Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad - XL:
This better be comfortable at 8-pounds, and it is. I use this car-camping, and use two of them, one on top of the other, for comfortable as any bed. Self-inflates by leaving the valves open for a minute; which the servants really appreciate. Blow in air if you want more. Bulky when rolled up. I would not have my servants carry this on a pack backpacking, because it is too heavy, and workers compensation is a concern. Two Thermarest Prolite's 3/4 pads, one on top of the other, would be 1/4 the weight of this pad, if you must have maximum comfort while backpacking. I am 6'2" tall. This XL 30"x77" is plenty long and wide for me. The velvty top is soft. Unzips to remove foam if you want to wash the cover in a washing machine.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad - XL:
I have owned 3 of these dreamtimes for over 10 years and have never had any problems or a bad night sleep. I go camping once a month with my 2 boys with the Indian Guides and absolutely love them. They are expensive but worth every cent. If you absolutely need to have a great night sleep and feel ready to go for Monday's work, get this pad and never feel the hardness of the ground again. Your body with thank you for it.
PS my 41 yr. old bones are proof of it. Enjoy!

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad - XL:
OK if you are looking at this then weight and size must not be a factor, because it is heavy and big. So you might be thinking most expensive must be best? In some cases that is true but it is not with this one. For your purchase you get a Thermarest 2 inch inflatable and a 1" piece of foam padding nestled in a heavy canvas liner. Ok the felt top was a nice addition.... I have had mine for years now because I have guilt about buying different one, and every time I sleep on it, I feel ripped off! Pass on this one it is sooooo not worth [$]!

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad - XL:
I had a hard time pulling the trigger, but went ahead and bought two of these before our summer camping adventure in July. (The kids and their young bones are sleeping on something much cheaper.) Personally, I am very pleased with these and feel you get what you pay for. They are so much easier to roll up and pack than my king size memory foam mattress from [@] that I used to haul around. And actually, much more comfortable too. The foam piece that comes above the inflating mattress looks a bit cheap but definitely does the job.If you are a no nonsense camper or backpacker, STOP reading this right now. You have no business here. Rocks, sticks and hard ground do not bother you. You have no business in this department. They say it is best to store these fully inflated and this will make the self inflation on trips easier and quicker. I store them under my kids beds which makes for an easy pull out when a friend comes over. Really, anyone could sleep comfortably on these. I give them a big thumbs up.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad - XL:
This is the ultimate in sleeping pads. My father bought two of these and loaned them to us for a camping trip to beautiful Jenny Lake in the Tetons. I'm not sure if I have EVER slept so well away from home (nice hotels included!).
The obvious cons of the pad are its size/heft and its price. For the first, just don't plan on using this anywhere you'll have to carry it far for (though after you sleep on it once, you might be tempted to forgo everything in your pack and just strap this pad and a tarp to your back for the best outdoor sleep ever). It is also quite pricey, but it is also worth every penny if comfort is a big thing for you (especially if you are an avid camper).
The pad is incredibly comfortable: just the right amount of firm and soft and it keeps you nice and warm all night. I love the fleece top which makes it warmer and helps to keep your sleeping bag from sliding around as much. If you are camping in a warm climate a light fleece sleep sack as a blanket is all you will need.
We have a small tent and when we put both pads into it it practically filled the entire interior. It was like having a full mattress in the tent! Really, it is an amazing sleep pad. I wholly recommend it.

Used it for the first time this weekend. A great step up from the bulky inflatable mattress pads. Easy to carry, not for backpacking, but super-duper comfort!!! I slept like a baby both nights!

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad - XL:
Fantastic. This thing is very very comfortable, even on small rocks and uneven grade. Non-slip and easy to inflate as well. It's too heavy and bulky for backpacking, but great for car camping or overnight off road adventures. This thing sleeps better than my mattress at home! I wish they included some kind of sack with it.

This is one of the most comfortable self inflating sleeping pads I have ever used and I do not sleeping on hard ground. If your thinking about getting one, go for the XL.

Just as comfy as my pillow top mattress at home!
My husband is not a camper but will 'give in' if he has this to sleep on. Otherwise he'll be at the lodge.
Only down side is it does not come with a storage sack.

comfort is the best reason to purchase this pad. I have had lighter and thinner ones...but this could replace a bed.
