I wanted sandals that would protect my foot while bike riding and that would breathe, which these sandals did. But they were so comfortable and cool that I wore them every day, even to work! They held up extremely well. They repelled dirt and were antimicrobial. I am a middle aged woman who normally wears a 5.5 med, but I bought a 4 youth size in these sandals and it was a perfect fit. Was having some foot problems (plantar fascitis) but these shoes actually helped. They now make a sandal with toe clips.

Bought a pair of these for myself because the kids size has more toe room than the comparable women's size (kids 6 = my usual 7 1/2). I liked them so much I bought a pair for my mom. They are well made and don't suffer the usual downgrade in quality sometimes seen with a kids version of an adult model. The soles are very comfortable and the shoe is surprisingly protective for a sandal. Can be worn with or without socks and in all kinds of weather.

The most versatile use Mom and I put them to was on a 50 minute hike through a Belize rain forest, followed by a couple of hours of cave river tubing. Have worn them in water and on sand, mud, grass, concrete, even snow. And dirt is no problem; they rinse off and dry quickly.

Thinking about getting another color...

I'm on my second pair of Keens Newport Sandals. Yep, I'm a grown-up with kid-sized feet. My last pair went fishing in Alaska, hiking on Mt Baker, and beach walking in Hawaii over 2 summers. I only hope my new ones will have as much fun.

I love love love my Keens because even the kid sizes don't pinch my wide feet! They last forever and protect my tender toes from unseen underwater obstacles. The only drawback to them is what we've dubbed "Keen stink." A good baking soda soak banishes it for about a week, but it always comes back.

Overall, though, this is an amazing shoe.

As a parent, watching our daughter run in flip flops has always made my hair stand on end and my stomach churn. Scraped knees, broken ankles, and all manner of other ills seem just a trip away, when kids wear such flimsy footwear during the summer.

These sandals are the answer! They fit securely, so there's no risk of a turned ankle, while kids are running and climbing. The tread is practically adhesive -- no more slipping on wet surfaces! They've also got great support and a rugged toe.

Bottom line: During the summer time, your kids can put these on in the morning and not take them off until bedtime. Parks, pools, puddles, jungle gyms, trees, beaches, trails, the yard, or the mall -- these sandals can handle them all!

We bought these for my 5 year old son who never stops! He is very hard on his shoes and these seem to be very durable and comfortable. He also has sweaty feet and these allow them to air out. He loves wearing them everywhere he goes ... with or without socks.

I've bought these sandals for my son every year since he was a toddler. He runs around like a madman. Flip-flops don't work for that...they twist, they fall off, he goes flying. These stay on, they don't rub, when they get wet (something else he does constantly) they dry almost instantly, and they last through the whole season without falling apart. I got him a different brand of water sandals once, only because of a great sale, but they were a disaster. I ended up going back out and buying him a new pair of Keens anyway.

If your child has chubby feet, though--which mine did for a long time--these might be tight over the instep. I'd recommend trying them on before ordering.
