    I own two pairs. They're great all around travel pants that will take you from a long transoceanic flight, through customs, into the field, and even to dinner in a decent restaurant. Besides being lightweight, comfortable, and surprisingly sturdy, you can wash them in a hotel room sink and hang them to dry them overnight. One of their best features is that they look like normal pants. No over-the-top cargo pockets, loops, zippers, velcro, or other non-essential elements that make some travel pants look like tragically mutated army fatigues. Just a couple of zippered security pockets discreetly located along the seams where they're almost invisible (and great for carrying my passport when traveling).

      Just like the previous reveiwer, my zipper broke. And if you are traveling light, you don't have much back up. What is disturbing is that I returned my pants in 2006, [...]. But clearly, with the most recent review was 2008, REI has not addressed this defect. I would not recommend this pant becuase of the high potential for failure of the zipper, which I experienced.

      Bought two pairs about a month ago. The plastic zipper fly on one pair has broken already. The zipper doesn't feel very sturdy anyway...so I'm waiting for the second pair to fall apart any moment now. Otherwise, the pants are super comfortable (especially when paired with the REI elastic belt), and light, easy to travel with.

        Terrific lightweight pants. I took two pairs on my Italy/Austria vacation, washing them in the sink every few nights. They dry very quickly and look great. I once wore a dark pair with my tuxedo jacket and nobody noticed they weren't tuxedo pants. I've got pairs in all the available colors. I guess I like them.

          I've been using these for camping, hiking, and outdoor play. They hold up really well and dry quickly. These are super soft and comfortable and don't get clingy or bulk up anywhere when activity gets high and the sweat starts to pour. I highly recommend these to any outdoor enthusiast.

            I first bought a pair of these for a trip to Peru and found they worked great for jungle and mountain hiking as well as travel and city wear. I now wear them regularly around town and in the mountains. They look like regular khaki pants. Their light weight and quick drying are big pluses. The hidden zipper pockets are great. My only complaint is I wish zippered leg pocket was big enough to easily slip my passport in. It works, but I'd like a little more room. Wonderful pants overall.

              I find it is tight on my thighs and calves. I have muscular legs and I need to get a waist size a few sizes to big to have them fit. I think there are to many pockets and to many zippers on these pants also.
