Comments about Black Diamond Oval Wiregate Carabiner:
These new-school oval biners are awesome. They have made huge improvements over the original design. Namely, they are slightly asymmetric, which causes the majority of the load to go across the spine. This is in part why these are stronger (23kN) than a true oval (~18kN).
I like using these mainly for racking gear such as a set of nuts and a set of tricams. I also like using two of them sometimes for a main anchor point when top roping, with the gates reversed and opposed, of course.

Comments about Black Diamond Oval Wiregate Carabiner:
I love this carabiner. Anytime I need to get krabs to rack gear or hold stuff on my harness I grab one of these. Although I haven't used it for anchoring purposes, the large gate opening is great and the large internal area allows it to hold a lot of gear. I carry my shoes on my harness with this carabiner. I wish Black Diamond made a locking version of this.

Comments about Black Diamond Oval Wiregate Carabiner:
I rack my cams on these biners, they are great, I also have them on some of my slings. they are thin (so you can fit alot of them on a gear loop, have a good rope bearing surface, not too heavy, although it would be nice if they were lighter, easy to clip, and have an offset interior which helps keep the rope away from the gate.

Comments about Black Diamond Oval Wiregate Carabiner:
These are the best multi-use carabiners. Whether you are using them as trad draws or racking cams and nuts. They are no fuss.

Comments about Black Diamond Oval Wiregate Carabiner:
In my opnion, the best all around nonlocking 'biner out there. This thing does it all, its a workhorse on anything from yosemite big walls to icy alpine routes. The symmetrical design is ideal for using two 'biners reversed and opposed. And the wiregate is lighter, less prone to freezing in alpine environments and reduces the possibility of gate fluttering and accidental opening. And you cant beat the price!
