Microbiologist approved
I have ordered this replacement not because I need one yet, but eventually I will. I have had my MiniWorks for over 10 years. As a food safety microbiologist, I have had access to methods to test what MSR says about their filter. Let it be said, THEY LIE! Their filter works BETTER than they say. I trust my, and my family’s, health and safety to it without hesitation. Just like everything else MSR makes, it is absolutely awesome.
Great long lasting cartridge
Good filter not the lightest but certainly the best. The filter does clog easy but compared to other filters it removes dirt and bacteria out of the water. Ive never had bad taste come from the filter. The problems with this filter are that it can freeze and crack. I had the filter crack from frozen water on a winter hike. It cracked in the seam under the black part so I did not notice it. Do not use this filter below 32'F. Also the filter is ceramic and if droped it can shatter. I havent had it shatter while it was inside the filter housing.
Only filter you'll ever need
We've had this filter for at least 15 years and it has never let us down. We have had to replace one part only one time and MSR sent it to us at no cost. Depending on where we are exploring we may need to clean the filter every couple days, but otherwise it's completely dependable and we love it.
Good choice for 3 seasons
I've used this filter for day trips and extened over nighters. I recommend frequent cleaning during and after use. Be careful, the ceramic cylinder will freeze and crack, rendering it useless. Replacement cylinder is not cheap. Not recommended for winter camping.

Excellent product
I have had the Waterworks EX (Mini Waterworks) for more than 6 years. It has never let me down. I have had companion climbers/trekkers who had filters clog up in their (non MSR) units and they become non functional. I can take this one apart and gently scrub the outside of the filter, put it back together and be back to brand new function in less than 10 minutes. Awesome!
Love these filters
I have had a WaterWorks filter for years. The only time I had to replace the filter was because I dropped it on cement while cleaning it. I do try to filter the cleanest water I can find and, when it is cloudy (full of St. Helen's ash for instance) I collect it in a bucket and let it settle before filtering if possible.
miniworks filter
This cartridge is for the MSR miniworks water filter. EXCELLENT filter. I have 3 other filters and this one is the way to go. Easy to use, easy to clean and long life ceramic cartridge. Highly recommend if you need a water filter. No tools needed to service or assemble or disassemble.
It is ceramic!
Great filter! I'd never imagine replacing it as for the 3 years I had the first one, it showed virtually no wear. The only reason I am replacing it is because I dropped it at home when cleaning it, and it broke. So handle with care when it is out of the filter! Best investment. Ever.
Couldn't be happier
I own several MSR water filter pumps. I became frustrated with the slow flow even after cleaning. I thought I'd buy a new ceramic, instead of a whole new pump. Outstanding choice!!! It like a brand new pump. I couldn't be happier and I saved $ as well.
