        I got this to take to the beach to give my infant daughter a place to get out of the sun.

        This setup proved terrible for that situation, one that Kelty recommends it for in the item description. Since there is no ventilation of any kind built in, the inside got very hot very quickly, and she was more uncomfortable inside it than out.
        Disappointed with the product overall.

          I was a bit cautious after reading the 2 less than stellar reviews here, but did some research of my own as well. I purchased my Kelty Cabana from REI in July 2008. It must be an updated version because the one I have has two mesh side windows that allow for ventilation. They work very well. I can certainly see how it would be much hotter without it. Lightweight to pack, easy to pitch. The only caveat is that unless you stake it down, a 10-12 mph will will put some serious pressure on it. I used it at the beach where obviously, I couldn't stake it and one time it was unusable due to wind. But on calmer days, it works like a charm.

              Given the Kelty reputation, we were very disappointed with the lack of ventilation. We purchased it to take it with us to the beach; however, our boys would not sit in it. It was so much hotter inside the cabana than it was in the sun. The system did not allow any breeze to come through nor could you see around you - side or back. This system needs to be redesigned to have mesh windows or screens with some kind of zipper access. Pass on the product.

              Other people have noted that there are no side wall vents, as advertised. This makes it hot and humid inside, and not at all comfortable. That seemed to be the only negative, so I exchanged it for the large one and I love it.
