Comments about Asolo TPS 520 GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I just orderd my third pair, love these boots! I wear them every day, outside in all kinds of situations and weather. I have short, wide feet which are nearly impossible to find good boots for but these are great right out of the box for me. Perhaps not the best for the coldest weather but I do wear them year-round working in the Rocky Mtns.

I like a lace-up leather work boot. With these the the lacing begins nearer to the end of the toe than most boots... which prevents developing a painful crease across the ball of my foot as happens with countless other boots I've tried.

These boots also do not rub my ankles in any way, which has been a problem with many other kinds of boots for me.

The only improvements I would seek would be a slightly more padded footbed, and a heel more suitable for horseback riding (though I ride in these daily anyway, need to be able to hike out of the mountains even if traveling horseback).

The price is fair for the quality of their construction. I'm still wearing a pair I nearly destroyed by weeks of hard work in water. They are still my favorites though long since past their useful lifespan.

Comments about Asolo TPS 520 GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I have used these boots for over five years now, and I can say they are bar none the best boots I have ever put on. My feet are little, wide, and I have a narrow heel.
After my previous pair of Vasque's died (after 7 years of good times), and disappointed to discover they had discontinued the women's version. I tried on so many boots trying to get something that would fit my feet, and I finally decided on this one. I wore them all year long in cold, wet, snowy Syracuse, and my feet were always dry and happy. I disagree with the people who say you can't wear these on dayhikes. Once they are broken in (which does take a while) they are great to hike in.
I used these for work as an environmental consultant, and routinely stood on wet rock at an approximately 35-45 degree angle. I didn't move an inch, and they stayed dry even while standing in a stream for hours at a time after five years of hard wear. I am going to be buying another pair soon, and start breaking them in. Couldn't recommend these boots enough if you are hard on boots.

Comments about Asolo TPS 520 GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I thought I would get these boots and break them in for my 2009 thru-hike of the AT. I wore them around with and without a pack around my neighborhood and on some short dayhikes. After some blisters on the uphills, I wrapped my feet in blister-proofing and tried them for a 3 day, 30 mile hike. My feet were wrecked by the end of it. They ached horribly, I had giant blisters on the backs of my heels, under my toes, I lost a toenail and bruised a few others. The boots are somewhat heavy and I couldn't walk correctly for days afterward due to the soreness and the blisters. I tied the boots tight to prevent the sliding heel on the uphills, but it still didn't help, I felt like I had plenty of room but on the downhills my toes must've been hitting the front. I tried insoles, different socks, I'm hoping that they just need some more break-in, but I'm really not sure if I'll be able to take these on my thru-hike. I'm a little bummed about the results for the cost and my feet have the scars to prove it.

Comments about Asolo TPS 520 GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I bought these boots about a month before I left on a two month trip in Europe. I probably wore these around town for about 15-20 miles to break them in. Not enough, but it didn't matter. I never got a blister while breaking them in, and I never got a blister on any of our hiking/backpacking trips. That is a miracle for me. I have never had boots that didn't tear my feet up before, so I was really impressed with these. I will buy these boots again when I wear my current ones out.

Comments about Asolo TPS 520 GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I love these boots. Some people may find them too heavy for dayhikes, but I need the support and I find that these are perfect. They are solid, very supportive, with a great sticky Vibram sole. They needed almost no break-in and are completely dependable - no weird bells and whistles, no fancy details, just dependable, solid, fabulous boots. I don't think they're made responsibly, though.

All I have to say about these boots are that they are AWESOME! No need to break them in, they were comfortable from the moment I put them on. Great for day hikes and even better when you're carrying a heavy pack. They are a bit much but a very good investment if you plan on doing a lot of hiking especially with a heavy pack on.

Great boots, felt like I had been wearing them for weeks and did not have to break them in. Extremely water resistant. Great for hiking and backpacking. I have been wearing them snowshoeing and they work great, my feet do feel cold at times though. I would buy these boots again if I ever had to have to part with them.

Comments about Asolo TPS 520 GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I bought these boots a few months ago for some backcountry field work in Washington and I couldn't be more pleased with them. These boots endured steep slopes, rocky and rough terrain, off-trail hikes, hot weather, cold weather, snow, rain, mud, you name it! No matter how the day went or how uncomfortable and tired I was at the end of the day, my feet were always taken care of.

These boots are really well-made and my feet were never cold or wet, despite the amounts of precipitation I experienced in the Pacific Northwest. The only fault I would give them is that they seemed to have stretched after a while and I ended up being more comfortable when I wore thicker wool socks. If my socks were not thick enough, my feet slid around occassionally; but I was constantly on very steep slopes and rocky, unstable terrain. These Asolos are just great all-around boots, suitable for anything from a day hike to extended backcountry trips. I love them and would recommend them to anyone!

Comments about Asolo TPS 520 GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I wear these boots almost daily and absolutely love them. I have a small and wide foot and have always had trouble finding a hiking boot that fit. The Asolo required no break-in period or stretching. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on and have held up well over 18-months of constant wear. I have a neuroma that causes my right foot to cramp during heavy hiking. My husband and I recently took a week-long hiking trip in Montana, including a twelve mile day hike over very rough terrain. With the support and stability the Asolo boot offers, I had no pain at all during the entire trip (which hasn't happened in YEARS)! I am ordering a second pair today so that I can have my original pair re-soled!

Comments about Asolo TPS 520 GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

This boot is pretty comfortable and quite stable. They have taken quite a long time to break in, though, and continue to be too wide in the ankle. If you have wider feet, these might be perfect for you! They have definitely stood up to the elements and are a high quality boot. I wouldn't recommend them for day hikes, they are quite heavy, but for backpacking, they are perfect.
