Yakima Control Towers - Set of 4
Control Towers create a multi-sport roof rack attachment system for almost any vehicle when combined with Landing Pads (sold separately).
- These snap-fit towers, with their easy-to-use locking cape, lock down snugly to any of seven custom-designed Landing Pads
- Together, Control Towers and Landing Pads can be installed on most any factory tracks, or directly to pick-up truck caps
- Attachment to Landing Pads is quick and easy; snap-fit design provides solid, secure fit to vehicle
- Multi-sport system carries a full load of gear and accessories (see Fit Guide for other parts and accessories)
- This system's track application makes the crossbar spread easy to adjust without removing the towers and bars

Fits the 2010 Forester just fine.
Otherwise it's a fine base for a Yakima rack, as expected. The rack as a whole feels very secure. I have noticed my mileage only goes down by maybe 1mpg, with the fairing and the basketcase left installed (and the basketcase is a TOP mount, so it's quite in the wind).

I have this rack system and have been using it without a single problem for 2 years now. I have something on them every day, whether it be lumber, ladders, kayaks, or surfboards. I use this rack system for work and play and it has served me very well. I had the system installed on my bare campershell (including a railing system) by a professional to ensure it's waterproofness, but it does look like something that anyone could do in an afternoon. I highly reccommend this system.

I wanted to put a roof rack on my '12 Hyundai Accent 5dr & wanted a more OEM look rather than an add-on like the clips do. I would've gave a 5 star, but I would have liked it if they made the rubber mounts customized to my vehicle, but that's just me being very picky. The towers work like they're supposed to & I feel so much more secure than I would from the clips.

I am using the control towers with #12 landing pads on a 2011 Subaru Outback. The system is sturdy and sleek looking because it can be mounted into the Subaru's factory rack mounts. However, this setup adds 2-3 inches of height vs going with the Yakima rail grabs. The consequence of that is you almost have to buy the wind fairing to cut down on noise.

Used in conjunction with the bars and the landing pads, in just a few minutes (we won't say how many $ later, but at least I got mine during REI's semi annual sale) I've got myself 2 roof racks on my CR-V without any cussing! Very easy to install - even I could do it!

I've had a few of the different style towers in the past, and these are by-far the easiest to use style. I'm impressed with how fast and easy they are to install once the landing pads are installed. Best of all is that I can remove the box from the roof with the cross bars and towers still installed. Total time of 60 seconds or so.
They're not cheap (none of the Yakima products are) but you get what you pay for. I upgraded the towers with the SKS locks - also quick and easy to do.

I have used just about all Yakima towers in the last twenty years or so, and these are the easiest to get on and off the car. They clamp to the crossbars and don't have to be adjusted every time you put them on and off.
