Comments about MSR Denali Classic Snowshoes:
I love my MSR Denali snowshoes. They take me anywhere I want to go on the snow confidently. I use the short tails on mine when not on a beaten down trail. Tails mount and remove very easily. I've climbed steep banks of loose and packed snow, traversed meadows, and never had a problem with my Denalis.

Comments about MSR Denali Classic Snowshoes:
Our family of 4 spent a week at Lake Tahoe. We had 4 different types of snowshoes (borrowed, rented and purchased) we are 4 very different sizes. We all fought over who got to wear these snowshoes. they fit all of us. They were effortless to put on and by far the easiest to walk in. I returned the other pair I bought at Rei and bought another pair of these.

Comments about MSR Denali Classic Snowshoes:
These are junk. The heel strap is very difficult to secure. The clips for the excess staps don't hold onto the strap well, but that doesn't really matter since most of the clips will break on the first use anyway. Even when attached tightly and securly the shoe doesn't stay on straight. My heel will sometimes completely slide off the board. The plastic 'toe' part of the shoe breaks very easily. The only reason I give two stars is becuse they are light in weight and inexpensive.

Comments about MSR Denali Classic Snowshoes:
I use the shoes to snowshow after heavy snows, moderate snows and icy conditions. I live in the mountains, so the terrain is mostly steep and rolling. They are very light weight, and once you get them on, they are great!

Comments about MSR Denali Classic Snowshoes:
I got these for Christmas this year. I have been using a pair of Tubbs for many years and my heal straps would loosen and I would slip out of the snowshoes. I recently did a snowshoe in deep snow, through some very steep stretches, and these performed great. I stayed stable, and the side grips kept me from slipping. I think they are GREAT!

Comments about MSR Denali Classic Snowshoes:
I have used these snow shoes on both deep powder (with the 4 inch extensions) and regular snow with a slight crust on it and in both situations they worked great. Good traction, good floatation and great stability.
The bindings are easy to use after a you get past the learning curve and stay secure though some pretty rough hiking. And you can put either shoe on any foot which makes it a bit easier when trying to put them on in deep snow or steep terrain.
No snow shoe even comes close at this price! I can't wait to go back out and strap them on!

Comments about MSR Denali Classic Snowshoes:
I like the stability I feel in icy and non icy conditions. I like being able to add an additional piece to the shoe for deeper snow or someone with heavier weight.
The shoes are difficult to strap in cold weather conditions with gloves, etc. I went to a REI snow shoe clinic located in a forest preserve. I learned about another shoe that has much easier straps to fit into. There were disadvantages about the other shoes, but the ease of being able to put on and take off would have made a difference for me. I still like my shoes. Will need to get used to strapping shoes on and off.

Comments about MSR Denali Classic Snowshoes:
As a beginner, I find these snowshoes to be excellent. They are lightweight, durable, and easy to operate. You can strap them onto the back of your pack easily when you're not using them (to beginners: this is really important), and the modular system allows extra versatility out in the field. On a couple occasions I had to throw on the 4" tails when the Cascade concrete turned to powder. It's a bit silly to give this product a low rating because you weigh 200 lbs, step out into powder without tails, and end up sinking. That's not what these were made for. Without tails, they were made for packed snow on trails with limited trailbreaking in light powder. Add the tails and they can do the latter even with heavier packs. I've used the 4" tails in certain trailbreaking scenarios and they kept me from sinking deep into the 3' of snow.
There are a couple negatives. I wear a size 11.5-12 shoe and the straps work well here, however my girlfriend has small feet which results in some problems with strap length. The straps themselves work well, but they tend to come out of the plastic bits that hold the extra length in place once secured to your boot, leading to them flapping about in the wind. This hasn't resulted in them coming off entirely yet after about 8-10 hikes, so that's fine. Lastly, they're really loud on packed snow, a product of the more durable plastic construction that differs from aluminum snowshoes.
Overall, these snowshoes have been a joy to use. I would suggest getting the televator versions if you're frequently going up steep hills. I tried to climb a 400' steep ascent without the televators and my calves were about to explode with pain. I trust these to maintain their grip and stay intact while on icy, variable terrain hiking up well-traveled trails and while trailbreaking.
When I start doing more advanced, steep trails, I will be upgrading to a shoe that has at least the televator bar, however I have been extremely pleased with these as an entry to snowshoeing.

Comments about MSR Denali Classic Snowshoes:
I find the bindings easy too use & secure. These snowshoes are excellent for steep terrain & fairly hard snow, but lack the flotation for powder. They are durable, and noisy. I weigh 190, and wear a size 13 boot.
