This is a very attractive and warm fleece sweater. While there are numerous pluses to this item, one annoyance I have with it, and many other clothing makers is the ambiguous names they give for colors. The Covert I bought was called Slate. Where I'm from, slate was mined and was very dark gray, almost black (remember blackboards?). Reproducing colors on the Internet is difficult due to different computer displays reproducing them differently. On mine, the sweater appeared to be dark gray. When it arrived, I was a bit disappointed to find it to be a kind of brownish-grayish color with a hint of olive. It's attractive, but very different from what I was expecting. Arc'Teryx should have called it something like a "dark taupe tweed" or something similar.

Regarding sizing, I was pleased to find it very roomy. Not excessively so, but more than I'm accustomed to seeing with Arc'Teryx products, which tend to be quite form fitting. I usually wear size Large in most products and this item in size large was roomy enough to easily layer base layers. If we had an REI store in Kansas City (or any outdoor store for that matter) that had these in stock, I would have liked to try on a Medium to see if it would fit better. But I'm not displeased with it in size Large. For reference, I'm 5'11" and 180lbs and a 42-43 inch chest.

Warm and functional enough for cool to cold weather camping, stylish enough to make it past the business casual dress code at your office! I have the carob (read: brown) version and the only problem I have is trying to space out my wearing of it so my friends don't think I only own one top!

Functionally the fleece is warm, though it is a mid layer at heart--you aren't stopping any wind with this fleece. The quarter zip neck height matches a turned down turtleneck perfectly. Open it is stylish and closed it snugs to you neck keeping you warm. Style wise having the fuzzy part of the fleece on the inside makes the outside look stitched like a sweater--thereby fooling your office manager into thinking it IS a sweater. Take that dress code!

I normally wear close to an XL in mid to outer layers (I'm 6'1" 195) but found the slight bag to the XL didn't look as good. The large fit my torso perfect and while I'd MAYBE like another 1/2 inch of sleeve length that may just be a personal preference; the sleeves definitely were not too short.

I was lucky enough to grab this on sale, though even full price I think it'd be worth it given its ability to look nice enough for work while still providing excellent warmth to weight for camping.

A decent fleece, however it does have it's flaws. A large fit my torso perfectly, though the sleeves were to short, however that was not a big deal, At 6'2" I'm used to it. It is a good looking jacket, and thats about it. It provided minimal warmth. But the big issue I had with this jacket was how quickly it pilled. I got it in the mail, went for a hike the next day, and returned it the next day. 6 hours of a moderate hiking in perfect weather had this thing looking like it was a year old. Like I said, Arc'teryx makes alot of extremely high quaility clothing and equiptment, this just isn't one of those.

This sweater is the most comfortable one that I've ever worn. It's perfect for hiking, and it looks good when NEW. The problem is that it is the worst pilling sweater that I've ever owned. After one wearing it looks like it is years old. Because of this it is impossile to use as a casual garment. It's only use is in situations where you are not concerned about looks. I still love it, and it is my number one hiking garment. To bad it doesn't have more uses.

I really can't say enough about this sweater. It's everything that one would expect from Arc'Teryx....high quality, stylish, multi-functionality, and the unfortunately, its one downside...high price tag. You do, however, get a lot for you money.
