Comments about Arc'Teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's:
I bought one as a Christmas gift for myself. I've mostly been using it as an outer shell down to 20-ish weather. It's quite thin and light. It's definitely a layering item. If you're moving, running, hiking hard, it's warm enough for just a Under Armour layer underneath in 30-ish weather. It is comfortable in warmer temps. The wind does penetrate the fabric. Without something under it, a cold wind will make you cold. Windless conditions and it's very warm for the thickness.Haven't had it in the soaking rain YET, but plan to. Water beads off the fabric. A hooded version would be practical if you got caught in the rain. Otherwise water will run down your neck. I do wish it had a drawstring at the neck, just to seal it up in the cold wind. I bought it a tiny bit big for layering, and the neck is too loose to seal up right. On the fashion scene, I've had lots of complimentary comments about it. I actually have the green one. Very hard to find it any cheaper than [$].Oh, one last thing. No velcro anywhere, so it doesn't mess up any other fabrics (I hate hook side on sleeve seals of other jackets.)L8R

Comments about Arc'Teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's:
This jacket is incredibly warm and comfortable. The material is very thin and lightweight for a soft shell, yet durable and warm.
It has a very athletic cut. Not well suited for those with a spare tire around their bellies. But for athletes, climbers, and hikers it fits very well and has a comfortable, stretchy fabric.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's:
You just can't beat it! Last week at Lake Tahoe there were 60 mph winds with slight snow/rain and the chill factor was just cold. The jacket stopped the wind dead in its track and I was toasty warm as I was wearing a 100 fleece shirt. Fits great, the weight is low, and the four pockets really come handy. Bottom line, you just can't beat it!

Comments about Arc'Teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's:
The Gamma MX is a spectacular jacket and is easily one of the best, if not THE best, softshells on the market today. The jacket has good water resistance (although it does take a while to dry when fully wet as another review mentioned), stretch, and breathability. In addition, it's warmer than it looks, most likley because of its wind-shedding properties and the trim, athletic fit. I personally think the warmth of the Gamma SV would be too much (keep in mind that the purpose of these jackets is not for walking around in the mall).
As a note, these things are made in China now(contrary to the assertions of another review), but you know what? So is everything else...big deal. It's probably the best softshell you can buy, regardless of where it's made.

The best jacket ever. It's warm enough for chilly fall nights and cool summer days. I love this jacket. I find this fits better than the Gamma SV. It's well worth the price!

Comments about Arc'Teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's:
The above reviews summarize this jacket well. It does fit snug and athletically, and Arc'teryx admits they tailor to more athletic physiques--not for the guy who likes to sit around a campsite next to his truck and fish. It is a technical jacket also, so the long sleeves and oversize hood (to fit a helmet) are functional.Another significant benefit to Arc'teryx is that they make all their clothing in Canada (although this may be changing). Look at the tag for any Mtn. Hardware, North Face, Columbia or even Patagonia jacket, and it will say made in China. The superior quality alone is worth the extra cost, but this is encouraging. [...]

Comments about Arc'Teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's:
Incredible comfort and fit. Keeps warm on most chilly Seattle days. Has DWR finish to allow light to moderate rain protection. Use only Granger Gwash or similar products to wash as most household detergent will leave a residue and/or roughen up the interior.

I wear it on the east coast for fall weather but wouldn't recommend winter weather! I got compliments on it as it looks styling around town! I used it camping and it's comfortable and contoured, unless you get a size bigger then you'll have extra room! I compared it to the Alchemy jacket by a competitor-same fit but a little more expensive! I own 4 Arcteryx jackets and i love them all!

Comments about Arc'Teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's:
This jacket rocks. I always brushed past the Arc'Teryx gear in the past thinking it was overpriced. Boy was I wrong. Everything on this jacket it thought out. Even the draw cords are neatly tucked away so as not to get caught in your harness / whatever. The fabric is top notch as well. Now to save up for those gamma mx pants :)
