    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Seattle Sports Bilge Pump with Float:

Same as other users: it worked fine first, but after a couple of trials started sticking. I've used other paddlers' pumps and they slide much easier than this one ever did.

Comments about Seattle Sports Bilge Pump with Float:

I don't recommend this product if you ever have to pump more than a gallon. After about thirty pumps you'll regret tossing your bailing bucket in the trash can.

If you're pumping high volume, i.e. whitewater canoeing, get a pump with a larger intake and output valve.

Worked fine in the beginning. After my kids played with it (read sand got into it) I tried everything to clean it. It is still hardly moving at all. Can not dissemble it because the whole thing is glued. Not sure if I will keep it.

Comments about Seattle Sports Bilge Pump with Float:

The pumped jammed on my 2nd trip out. I know REI will readily provide a refund, but the poor quality of this product is at best an annoyance and at worst jeopardizes one's safety. You have to rely on gear (especially self rescue gear) to perform when called upon. Sadly, I just didn't get that from this.

I've used this pump for several years and never had a problem with it. One of the other reviewers was right, it does make an excellent water canon.

Comments about Seattle Sports Bilge Pump with Float:

Owned this for months and never had to use it. Went out on the bay this week in my 14 ft sea kayak,.. and sure enough, over I went. Kayak filled up with a ton of water!(might have something to do with the fact it took me several tries to cowboy up in minor swells) Stayed afloat though. Pump worked exactly how it was supposed to. I've heard some bad reviews but when I needed it,.. and I needed it pretty bad,.. it worked just fine for me. I can't attest to 8 gallons a minute,.. but I wouldn't doubt it either. Good product. 5 stars in the future if the durability question is answered. Won't know til I flip it again!

Comments about Seattle Sports Bilge Pump with Float:

Having taken a kayaking class where we had to swamp the boat for practice, I knew I had to have one of these. I've tested it in the bathtub, but haven't yet had an occasion to use it on the Bay. I've had it a year, and taken it out on every trip on the water; it still works great (in the bathtub).
                      Other things I like:
                      • the style of the handle -- I can put a clip/tether on it so it doesn't float away from the boat if it swamps. Some other pumps have a flat handle and no place to attach a tether.
                      • Bright yellow color really stands out in the water
Does it really pump 8 gallons per minute? Not sure -- that depends on your speed and strength!
