Comments about SKS P35 Fender Set:
I'm a very mechanically-inclined person and I found these fenders reasonably easy to install. I didn't bother with the instructions since the installation was fairly intuitive without them.
Initially, I installed them using Problem Solvers Sheldon's Fender Nuts. I had to purchase stainless M6 locally to attach the fenders to them though. The rear fender is designed to clip onto the chainstay bridge, but my bike doesn't have one. The fender fit snugly between the chainstays, but for extra security, I drilled two small holes in the fender and secured it to the seat tube just above the front derailleur with a zip tie. It's worked perfectly and is unobtrusive. Possibly due to the positioning caused by the fender nuts, the tip of the front fender dragged on the (28c) tire. I tried bending the mounting tab, but this didn't help much. I then tried using a heat gun on low and bending the fender up – that worked perfectly. I "froze" it into place by squirting cold water on it.
After a few days, though, I decided to remove the Sheldon's Fender Nuts and install the fenders between the brake caliper and washer instead. This change rotated the front fender forward about 2-inches for improved coverage over the tire. Clearance over the tire was improved in this position and probably wouldn't have needed the heat gun in the first place. Removing the fender nuts did not affect the rear fender position due to the sliding clip.
This is the first set of full-coverage fenders that I've ever installed or used. I've been pleased with their performance over the last 2-weeks of using them.
The only problems that I have found with them are not specific to this brand or model, but would be a problem with any fenders:
1: Front wheel/toe overlap. My size 46 feet have significant overlap when doing low-speed maneuvers, like when approaching a bike rack or in the driveway. The increase in the effective diameter of the front tire and the rubber-capped stays have nearly caused me to crash a couple of times.
2: The inability to wipe debris off the rear tire. I have a 25-year habit of wiping my tires after I ride through a gravelly patch on the road and the fender coverage precludes doing it.

Comments about SKS P35 Fender Set:
I bought these fenders in spite of the review that mentioned the bad assembly instructions. I'm a mechanical engineer and pretty good with my hands so I figured it wouldn't be a problem. The instructions are a little sparse but enough can be determined from the pics to be able to put them on properly.
My gripe is with the overall design and manufacturing of this product. I buy A LOT of things online and this is the first product that I've ever bought where I felt compelled to write a review. I will list the problems numerically for simplicity:
1. One of the bolts was machined incorrectly. This is a critical piece and would have required me to take it to our machine shop at work and fabricate one of my own.
2. There is not enough adjustability in the stays/endcaps to maintain a close fit between the fender and tire. I considered cutting the stays to get them to some kind of useable length.
3. Slotted hole for the front brake mount is not large enough to accept the 5ex bolt that attaches my brake. I would have either had to drill the slotted hole bigger or modify my ultegra brake to use their hardware, neither option was appealing to me.
4. One of the annoying design flaws is the the fact that both sides of each stay are the same length. The stays are mounted off center from the wheels, because of this one side of the stay should be longer than the other to keep the fender concentric with the tire (they aren't). If there were more adjustability in the system (see #2) this wouldn't be so much of a problem.
5. The mounting hardware for the chainstay bridge on the back wheel was not adequate for where the fender ended up relative to my bridge. I could have modified it by using a round spacer to close the gap. Since it's located where the wheel exits the fender area perhaps it could remain unsecured because there isn't much chance for it getting caught and causing a crash.
I hope this is helpful to people considering this purchase. Maybe fenders are just the type of thing where there is too much variability of bikes to always have a good fit. The number of issues that I saw was too much for me to try and make it work though. I'm glad the good folks at REI have such a generous return policy.

Comments about SKS P35 Fender Set:
I can't believe REI is willing to sell these. I am taking them back. The fasteners aren't labeled/referenced individually by size. I tried both sizes on the front fork. Small ones engage two full threads (not enough) and the big ones hit the hub. SK5 really needs to hire a technical writer, because the install instructions are terrible. The picture on the REI website was the only way I could determine that you are supposed to have a black plastic attachment point on one side of the fender and just metal on the other side. It isn't even mentioned or displayed in the instructions. Super lame don't buy!

I live in a very rainy area. Thes work great. Very easy to install (about five minutes). LIght, strong and they look very cool on my black & silver ride. A lot better than the Plane Bike fenders.

Comments about SKS P35 Fender Set:
The fender itself is fine. It is reasonably flexible, lightweight and rugged.
I'm giving this product two stars because the mounting process is absurdly complicated and because the instructions are gratuitously unhelpful. Never do they explain which screws are which size. They simply refer to all four sizes of screws as "screws", leaving the user to distinguish by trial and error.
Additionally, the steps in which one must install the various components are not chronological! If you complete step one prior to step four, you won't be able to get it on your bike!
Lastly, the instructions require you to replace your front and rear brake bolts and screws with ones that come with the fenders. Ordinarily I would be okay with this, but the ones that are included are not the standard width or hex-key size. This means that if you ever need a new bolt or screw for your brake, you can't just run by a local bike shop and pick up the standard one--you'll have to order it.
With enough effort you will be able to get this fender on your bike and working, but I recommend finding a more easily installable product. I will be returning this to REI.

Comments about SKS P35 Fender Set:
I have used Zefal and Planet Bike in the past, but the SKS P35 is the best of all. (Note: Get the P35, not the cheaper Commuter Fender). The Zefal would not stay together, and the Planet Bike needed to be re-riveted after 1 year. It is moving to my Salt and Snow bike. I have had the P35 for 5 years and its works wonderfully.

Comments about SKS P35 Fender Set:
Very solid feel to these fenders. Front will have a controlled pop-off if a stick flys up (won't break the fender). People may call you a nerd for having fenders, but you'll stay much dryer having them on when riding in the rain.
