Comments about Slime 26 Inch Tire Liners - Twin Pack:
I've used these on my commuter since late 2010 after having another multi-puncture goat head thorn date. I installed one on my front tire (kenda kwest 700x35, common tubes) and put 3100km on it with no flats. I later transferred that liner to my other commuter bike's front tire (michelin city 26x1.4, novara tube) and have put another 2000km on it with no flats – most notably i was walking my bike on a dirt path next to some train tracks, hopped on to ride and immediately noticed dozens of goat head thorns in both tires. I brushed/picked them off the front tire, left them in the rear tire (continental contact 26x1.75 that had no liner) and rode home a few miles before the air leaked out the rear. After 200km the front tire with the liner still has no leaks.
On the down side, when i removed the liner from my previous commuter's rear tire after 1800km, it had put very noticeable gouge lines in the tube. Though it didn't cause a leak yet, it seems pretty clear that it eventually would. I'm not sure, but i don't remember any obvious gouge marks in the front wheel tube when i swapped that earlier in the year after 3100km. Though I'd prefer a liner that never chaffed a cut into the tube, I'd be pretty satisfied if I got this kind of protection for 3000km or more even if the liner eventually caused a flat. I would generally get flats far more frequently than once every 3000km when i had no liner. As many people suggest it's probably best to put the liner into the proper position in the tire, then install the tube partially inflated to keep the liner in place before putting the whole thing on your rim. Some people have suggested using electrical tape, a strip cut out of another tube, and/or talcum powder to help remedy the liner chaffing the tube. If they have a liner that has tapering rubber (or some other soft material) edges like what most tube patches have, I figure that could solve the problem that the relatively sharp liner edges cause.
My commutes are over all sorts of city streets and some dirt trails. I encounter lots of road debris (though i try to avoid it if possible), and encounter goat heads on occasion. I'm 150lbs and ride about 3000km per year with a decent amount of commuting gear on board.

A local bike path is lined with goatheads. After getting a couple flats I bought these. Well, the first time out a thorn went right through the liner. These liners do not work.

I was very excited to buy this product. I bought three of them thinking of my brothers in India who too would need these liners. The liner ended up damaging my tube and to some extent my tires. I took them out.[...]

After the 700c version sliced the tube on my wife's bike I took off the 26in. liner on my bike and found that the ends of the liner had started to cut into my thornproof tube. I have switched to a more pliable tire liner.

These liners gave me a flat.
Imagine my surprise to find a hole in my tube while riding with these, and the even greater shock to find the hole was caused by these liners. Like others have stated, the edge of the liner is stiff and hard - it will wear into your tube and cause you the flat it promises to protect you from.
Avoid this product.

I used these for one day before they cut my tube. The overlap on the end of the insert cut the exact shape of the liner in the tube. Upon closer inspection the the whole outline of the liner could be traced along the tube with small cuts in various locations.
On the positive side I didn't get any thorns while using these.

Comments about Slime 26 Inch Tire Liners - Twin Pack:
On my mountain bike with Specialized tires I noticed that the rubber on the inner casing of the tires seems to dissolve and then stick to the tire liner thus exposing the cords of the tire. I'm worried that this will cause chafing of the tube against these cords even after removing the tire liner. I don't know if this happens with other brand tires. I have also noticed chafe marks on the tubes where the edge of the tire liner is. This chafing seems to eventually cause slow leaks. The liners seem to decrease the number of flats from thorns but they do not stop thorns every time, especially goatheads which we get a lot of in Sacramento in the summer. I think I'll try the Stop Flats2 or Mr. Tuffy liners to see if they also dissolve the rubber.

I commute about 150 miles a week. I have been using these liners, together with slime tubes. Both were defeated by a discarded paper clip. I think that Kevlar tires together with kevlar tire liners would be a better investment.

Comments about Slime 26 Inch Tire Liners - Twin Pack:
'Tis true these are a little weighty, but in the Arizona desert (think CACTUS!!) a liner is a must have! Whether I ride my mountain bike in the desert or we ride our Cannondale tandem on the street, these always go where we go - and have for years! I can't remember the last flat with these in place.
INSTALLATION TIP: When installing liners, place your tire on the rim as you usually do to fit the inner tube within the tire(one bead on rim/one off). Fit the tube into the tire. Pump a little air into the inner tube to expand it just until the tube begins touching the inside of the tire (it won't require much!). THEN, slide the liner between the tube (lightly inflated) and the tire. The pressure of the inflated tube will keep the liner held in place against the inside of the tire preventing liner from shifting resulting in tube chaffing or cutting (I have never had the liner shift or chaff when installing this way). Once the liner is in place, if you can't get the tire back on the rim you probably have a tad too much air in the tube - let a little out, pop the the tire over the rim and fill to recommended/desired pressure. Happy (bike) trails!
