        I've been using these straps for about two years and have decided to replace them with a brand that works better. The lever on the buckle does not open the buckle wider when it is pushed farther down. This is a design flaw. Consequently, the tiny opening only works with a brand new strap. I frequently have to use these buckles when my hands are very cold and wet and it is very difficult to feed the strap through the buckle. Now that there is two years of wear on the strap it is just about impossible. I don't think REI should carry these. The buckle lever and opening is not designed right, other buckles of the same type work better.
