I recently went out and purchased 8 different mini and frame pumps from 4 different manufacturers, including the:

1) Topeak Micro Rocket CB
2) Topeak Mini Morph
3) Topeak Pocket Rocket DX MasterBlaster*
4) Crank Brothers Pump Alloy*
5) Crank Brothers Pump Pro*
6) Zefal HPX ASV Frame Fit Pump
7) Blackburn AS-1 Air Stick
8) Topeak Turbo Morph G

While I love the fact that the Crank Bros. pumps come with a built-in gauge and have a decently sized barrel to grip while you pump, I could not achieve pressures above 90psi on the Pump Alloy (and not above 80psi on the smaller Pump Pro) -- I am a 5'10", 170 lb, 45 yo considered by most to be in well above average physical condition. The Crank Bros. pumps are very rugged, and, with dual valve attachments, should not wear out washers from inflating both the wider Schraeder and narrower Presta valves.

A couple of remarks regarding previous reviews:

1) You do NOT have to screw the pump head to the valve stem. This person must not have noticed that the Crank Bros. Pump Alloy and Pump Pro come with both a Schraeder and a Presta valve head (switchable with a twist), or must have been reviewing a different pump.

2) The reviewer who could not inflate their mountain bike tires must not have noticed that the Pump Alloy and Pump Pro have two air flow settings: 1) high pressure (road bikes), and 2) high volume (for mountain bikes). All it takes is a twist of the barrel cap to switch settings. I experience no problems using this pump to inflate mountain bike tires.

For those looking for a good mini/frame pump that will fit reasonably well in a jersey pocket, deliver pressures approaching 100psi/8bar, and have a pressure gauge, I recommend the Topeak Turbo or Road Morph G. The Crank Bros. Pump Alloy would be my third choice. If you do not need/want the gauge, go with the Topeak Mini, Mountain or Road Morph. If you are a roadie and want really small and lightweight, go with a CO2 cartridge system and the Topeak Micro Rocket CB.

First, you do NOT need to screw the pump to your valve stems as suggested by another reviewer. This is a great pump. I'm a fan of having a pump vice just a CO2 inflator when mountain biking in the middle of nowhere or when not road racing. The Crank Bros pump is a excellent pump--you do need to understand that it is a mini-pump: you won't win any speed contests in re-inflating your tube with it after a flat, but you can inflate reasonably quickly AND get it to the pressure you want, even if over 100 psi...

Light maneuverable sturdy for a short fighting stick.

WAIT i bought a pump...

IT is difficult to secure to your valve. YOU have to screw the pump to the valve!!!! The spokes get in the way!!!! I think i lost as much air as i tried to put in trying to remove the pump. This thing is light and tough well designed except where it counts. If it had a redesigned valve coupling would recommend it over other pumps of the size.

It obviously was not field tested. In the field my tires would still be flat because i would have ripped off my valve stem using this pump.

This pump IS well designed. It's very light, sturdy, and has a pressure gauge (a must-have feature for me). It's one of my must-carry tools in my Camelbak. I also use it before every ride to ensure my tires are properly inflated to avoid getting a pinch flat.

To inflate efficiently & fast... I first set it to "High Volume" mode until it becomes too hard to pump, and then twist the dial to the "High Pressure" mode. And I'm able to pump with in about 5~10minutes. Because it so compact I never leave home without it.
*Don't get me wrong the floor pump is still the best for pumping tires at home.

This pump looks nice, very light weight and built to take a beating. While it can be a bit difficult to pump make sure you have the right presure setting and it does help (high presure, high volume) no matter what presure you use it still takes a million pumps to inflate your tire but it is a mini pump and thats to be expected. It can leak air but thats due to user error...just recheck or re adjust the seal and you will be fine. If you want a pump thats fast and easy get a full sized one but if you want something that works when you need it to and is super light weight this solid mini pump is for you.

Great pump.I like it for the most part, but it does come with some drawbacks.

1. It leaks air

2. Poor quality frame mount

Not a really big deal, but it is annoying. I ended up drilling holes under the mount and putting it where my water bottle cage would be with screws. It is pretty rugged, which is good and pumps quickly . Good pump if you can deal with those minor issues

This was a great pump (on paper) until I actually needed it. It would not seal well, it leaked, could not do more than round out a tube to seat tire. It seems quality is really hit or miss with this pump after looking at other reviews on the net. [...]
