Comments about Primus Yellowstone Classic Trail Stove:

I camp with two other people out of a small Subaru, so space is an issue, but not so much as a back packer. I bought two of these stoves instead of a two burner coleman style stove. They have more than enough output for my needs. The flame has a wide spread and they are heavy duty enough that I am comfortable placing a 14" x 10" steel griddle across two of them for cooking pancakes, bacon and eggs. When cooking with a griddle I barely turn them on, which is plenty, so I am not going through a ton of fuel. I also use them with my 2.5 and 1.5 liter GSI pans, which are fairly wide bottomed.

Comments about Primus Yellowstone Classic Trail Stove:

Used on a recent hiking/camping trip at Redfish Lake in Idaho. Cooked all meals and drinks for two people over three days. Worked flawless. Great temp control and didn't even use over half of a large can of fuel. If windy, build a little rock barrier and no problems. Well worth the few dollars. I prefer it over my Primus Multifuel and MSR Whisperlite.

Comments about Primus Yellowstone Classic Trail Stove:

I like this stove it seems to do everything I ask it to do... performance is shaky in cold weather i.e. (35-45 F) a couple of times I wasn't sure if the stove lit since it's so quiet. the stove part started to change color somewhat to yellowish. I take two now on tours just in case one fails I have a backup... these are so lightweight and the power is ok for the size, just make sure you cover it from the wind it goes out easy!

Comments about Primus Yellowstone Classic Trail Stove:

This little stove is so simple it's almost hard to believe. I've owned it for about 6 months now, and have used it many times.

I couldn't tell any difference when I had to use an off-brand fuel I bought in one of those we-have-everything stores. It's really convenient being able to use any canister that will attach to the stove. The medium sized canisters seem to last so much longer than the small ones, I havn't bought a small one since I first used the stove.

I would have rated it a 5 if it were a little smaller or lighter, but then I guess it wouldn't be as good in some other area.

The flame is so adjustable, it can be easily adjusted low enough to keep coffee water hot, but not boil the water away.

And, you can't beat the price!

Comments about Primus Yellowstone Classic Trail Stove:

What a nice stove for the money. Cannot go wrong with it.

It's grill and flame is a bit wider than more backpacking stoves, which was great when using a skillet; the flame distributes nicely.

If all you cook with is a narrow cup/kettle... then this flame might be a bit wide for you. The flame hits right at the outside of my tiny kettle.

Just watch your pots. Mines tends to slite around a lot while on the stove

Comments about Primus Yellowstone Classic Trail Stove:

There is not much to say about this stove--it is very simple and it works. It is not the lightest, not the most stable, etc. but it probably is the cheapest and I can't justify spending more for a stove when this one does all need it to do.

Nice and lite though temperature control was difficult, handled well in the wind and cold, Thought it could be wider. Though good quick cooker especially for the price.

Comments about Primus Yellowstone Classic Trail Stove:

This stove has always done everything we've asked of it, and done it well. Unlike its fancy (i.e. pricey) competition, this is a no-frills get-the-job-done-right type of stove. You hook up the fuel, light the stove, cook your food, and get right to the eating part. It may never be the flashy and gadgety "talk of the campfire", so to speak, but this underdog deserves fair recognition for its reliability and performance. I never hit the trail without it.
