Comments about Photon Micro Light II LED Light:
After three years of occasional use, still on the original battery, this flashlight was my single most important possession during two weeks of traveling through African villages, towns, and cities, where electricity is either nonexistent or not always functioning. When walking at night on a dirt road, it gave enough light to avoid the ditches and obstacles. It helped me find things in my duffel bag in the dark. In a hotel room during a power outage, I could shower and change clothes with this light.
Back home, it is SO handy, I find myself using it all the time, around the house, at work, everywhere.

This has been on my keychain with my car key, house key, and bike lock key for over two years now. It has not left my side. I upgraded from the Princeton Tec Pulsar II LED Light which did not have a switch to keep it on. I have never had the light come on accidentally while it was in my back pocket or thrown into my backpack. I have used this on cycle touring trips and while hostelling. It provides a good amount of light. I even used this once to get me home on my bike when my bike light batteries died. I am still on the original battery. I love this little light and always have it on me.

Comments about Photon Micro Light II LED Light:
I bought this to attach to the front of my backpack. I used it while staying in hostels so I could use the red light to gather my things for a pre dawn departure without disturbing my roomies.
This little thing puts out ample light. I liked that I could hold it for a quick illumination or flip the switch so it would stay on without me constantly depressing the botton. Worked extremely well for what it was intended.

Comments about Photon Micro Light II LED Light:
I bought this light to experiment with in my ultralight arsenal. My wife and I frequently hike the Appalachian Trail for long stretches with our 3 kids and dog and weight is a premium with food and supplies for 5. In total, I have purchased three of these units, 2 white and 1 red. On our most recent trip we decided to try night hiking for the first time.
In preparation for our hike, we affixed velcro on our caps/visors and to the back of the unit (why I listed "flat" as a pro). This was a perfect setup for holding the light onto our hats. Adjusting the lights was easy, just slide your visor or bill up or down. The problem was that the first white light we purchased, which had been used only occasionally on previous hikes (about 10 days total) dulled very quickly while on continuously. This made hiking the PA rocks torture on our feet.
The next problem was that the red LED cast a very small circle of light. Great for keeping your night vision but relatively useless for anything other than up close. The brand new light worked fabulously for night hiking all by itself. It cast a strong beam at least 10 feet in front of me and a weaker beam up to 30 yards which was more than enough to see the trail and blazes.
Finally, the battery compartment has screws so small you need a glasses sized screwdriver to replace the battery in the field. That's not a great weight penalty but it has only one use and I hate unitools in ultralight hiking. It's small size also makes it easy to lose so we quickly developed a rule that nighttime use REQUIRED the light to be switched on. That way if it fell or you set it down you could find it again.
I would recommend this light only for occasional hiking use or for extended backpacking with the caveat that you must bring extra batteries and a screwdriver to get into the case.

Like the size and the clip. I've been using these clipped on a lanyard around my neck along with a bear whisle, but it turns on all by itself when it rains, and just when you sweat! Useless in a hike. [...]

Comments about Photon Micro Light II LED Light:
I always carry this light on an all my adventures. Sometimes when going ultralight, it is the only light I carry. Usually it is a back-up light to my headlamp.
I summited Mt Shasta, solo, with this as my only light. That might be a bit extreme considering I left camp at 1 am in near total darkness, but that is how good this light is. It won't throw a beam for 20 or more feet like a brighter (heavier) headlamp will, but it lights up the trail enough to find your way!
It seems to last forever. I have always lost them before needing to figure out how to replace the batteries.
They're cheap. Buy one for your emergency kit or key chain - you'll use it a lot!

Comments about Photon Micro Light II LED Light:
Overall, very good alternative to a regular flashlight. Weightless, long-life battery, and a very powerful light. I'd upgrade for a few more bucks to the Photon Freedom Micro instead, though. Better features and practical accessories.
Bought two as replacements for Photon Freedom Micros. Both are/will be difficult to change the battery.
The regular Micro here is a little awkward to flip the "continuous on" switch.
Also don't like the lack of the adjustable brightness, as the Freedom model has. (Is a great feature in the middle of the night, without question.) That model has a little clip included for your hat, too. Though initially skeptical, that quickly became indispensible on the trail and around camp.
Great to have on your keychain for year-round use.
Would have gotten higher ratings if it didn't have a hotter cousin! Still worth the money, though.

Comments about Photon Micro Light II LED Light:
I rarely write a review; however, this light is worth the time. In my experience, the best light of its size- and I've tried most of them. VERY bright (again, for its size). Long battery life. Small enough to always have with you. This light is the one gadget I can honestly say I use every day. Perfect for night fishing, figuring out what just fell to the ground and rolled under your car in the dark or finding your way back to the tent. A must for your key-ring, day pack, tackle box, or survival kit.

Comments about Photon Micro Light II LED Light:
I've had mine for 5 years. On it's second battery with daily use. Attach it to something big...until I did, it went through the wash 3 times forgotten in a pocket. 3rd time it quit working; I unscrewed the case, cleaned off the little wire contacts, new battery, viola! That was 3 years ago, it still is a pleasure to have, in a dark car, looking through a pack at night, anytime.

Comments about Photon Micro Light II LED Light:
Bought the white, took off the chain/clasp and I now have a very lightweight main light for backpacking. Hike until dark, bivy, and this light will handle all of my needs with a minimal weight penalty. I thought I would miss a headlamp-only in the winter, when a headlamp is useful due to the long nights resulting in extended periods of night hiking.
