I bought two of these. One leaks at the lid like crazy! The other looks like it will in no time. [...]. It's a gamble. Good luck. You can always use the broken ones for lemonade.

Even when you need to carry some extra water, now you can have 2 bottles instead of 3. Fits in most side pockets on packs that have them.

Comments about Nalgene Silo Water Bottle - 48 oz.:

I take this bottle on 3/4-full day rock climbs. 1.5 liters seems to be about the right amount if I'm already well hydrated. A piece of webbing and a few wraps of duct tape help attach this to my harness.

I have the 32oz and 48oz bottles. I love them both. I drive a lot for work and keep the 48oz in the car. It handles being dropped and rolling around without any problems. You can pay twice the price for the pretty bottles but you are just wasting your money. There is no after taste and the lids have never leaked.

I took part of the Montana Conservation Corps and used these as my bottles. They worked really well and the large water capacity was a huge bonus.

Comments about Nalgene Silo Water Bottle - 48 oz.:

This is your regular Nalgene--just super-sized. For me this is perfect. I can fill it up and not think about running low for the rest of the day. Only flaw is that is takes on a plastic taste after a while, but that is to be expected with any plastic bottle.

Comments about Nalgene Silo Water Bottle - 48 oz.:

Good to use caving just in case you need it, or if someone else runs out of water. You probably want to have a smaller one if it is a short trip, but better safe than sorry. "BPA Free" is not stamped onto the bottom of mine, so I'm not sure if it really is. It definitely smells weird for a while like other Nalgenes of this color.

Comments about Nalgene Silo Water Bottle - 48 oz.:

I was exited to buy this only because of the size. I'm happy with the purchase, however their are a few minor problems with it. Iodine or any water purification tablets or liquids will severly color it. Mine went from white to a bagish color on five backpacking excursions. Another minus is that if you attach the lid to a carrabeaner, the part attached to the bottle will snag, leaving the the actual lid screwed on the bottle to be connected, without the circular part on the bottle. However it will still remain intact, but barely. However this is one of the best Nalgene products to get because of its capacity.

Comments about Nalgene Silo Water Bottle - 48 oz.:

I have had this water bottle so long that I don't even remember when purchased. I use it everyday at work. I don't have to think about how much water I am drinking, a glass in the morning, my water bottle at work and at least one more glass in the evening and I know I've had at least my eight glasses. I have never had a leak with this bottle and it is really old. I like how easy it is to clean. The only drawback is that it is difficult to drink from while driving and I'm going to try the insert. I plan on buying several as gifts as I can find nothing I like better and people ask me about it all the time.

Comments about Nalgene Silo Water Bottle - 48 oz.:

Needed a large capacity water container for a quick trip down to Crystal Cove State Park for some backpacking, needed to pack in all H2O. Had enough water for 2 people x 2 freeze-dried meals plus coffee and water for hike back to the parking lot. Good price, slim profile fit perfectly inside pack, no complaints whatsoever -- excellent for backpacking and hiking!
