The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Vasque Clarion Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
I wear theses every winter when I hike to the Phantom Ranch in January. These boot have not let me down. They are very comfortable and provide excellent support. The only thing is the heel has worn down due to to many miles. I am having the heels resoled today so I can get back on the trails. I have not been disappointed in the purchase of these boots.

Comments about Vasque Clarion Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
I used to have a pair of these about 6 years ago and wore them out. Sent them to get resoled and ended up losing them in the process of getting them fixed. I bought the same pair again and they are awesome. Highly suggest them. Great all around boot even with the shank in the midfoot.
Service and delivery comments:
REI sent me a second pair because my orginal pair was lost in shipping from fedex to the post office. My next pair was sent the next day. Great customer service. I couldn't thank them enough for their help with everything.

Comments about Vasque Clarion Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
I'm a BLM-volunteer that patrols (hikes) several BLM wilderness & wilderness study areas west & SW of Albuquerque, NM. These areas are mostly pinion-juniper-ponderosa land interlaced with mesas that are almost exclusively without maintained trails or no trails. The land is arid and temperatures are warm-to-hot in the non-winter months.
I put about 175-200 hiking miles a year in my boots. For me this requires a relatively sturdy boot with a balance between excellent stability & ventilation. The Vasque Clarion serves this purpose very well for me -- I'm on my third pair. Your mileage may vary.

Comments about Vasque Clarion Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
I have been using Vasque since 1974. I am now ordering my third pair of Clarions. Mind you, they are not for rough terrain even though they are called hiking boots. They are more apt for light weight trekking on dry conditions. The laces don't last more than a couple of years (Vasque needs to address that) but like most Vasques, I can get five years out of a pair with daily wear through winter months. If you are going on an expedition, this is not the pair for you. If you are trekking on ice, again, not the right pair. Great warm shoe, blister free.

This is the second pair of
Vasque Clarion I have owened. I thought I would try the lighter newer boots. First ones were fine, I had to leave them behind on a trip. Bought these, 2 years old, they fell apart on day one of a 3 day trek in the Sierras.
The soles delaminated completely. NOT VIBRAM. It was misserable. I found out that they are now made in China.
I have been treking all over the world since 1973 when I did the John Muir trail. I took a pair of Italian Pivetas to the Himalayas in the late 70's boy do I miss those boots.
I am now looking at Asolo or Zamberlan> Pay the money get good boots. Preferably made in Italy.

Comments about Vasque Clarion Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
This is this first pair of boots I've ever owned where the midsole completely disintegrated while the rest of the boot was in great condition. I showed them to the guy in the footwear dept at REI in Austin and he said that he sees this happen all the time. I told him I wouldn't buy Vasques again and he told me that pretty much all the boots they sell will do this if they're not worn every week. Nobody warned me of this when I purchased them. [...]

Comments about Vasque Clarion Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
This was a great-fitting, super-comfortable pair of boots. The uppers are still in great shape and the outer sole is still good. HOWEVER, the inner sole has completely dry-rotted and crumbling out in a black powdery mess. There's no reason that boots this expensive shouldn't last several years. Very disappointing and I won't buy Vasque's again.

Comments about Vasque Clarion Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
Since they fit my wide feet and are very comfortable, I have used this boot for many years. However, the last four pair of boots have all worn out after about 6 or 8 months of regular usage. In all cases, the soles split apart. I don't trust the boot anymore for a long trip. It's time to switch to a different manufacturer....

Comments about Vasque Clarion Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
This has been the third pair of these boots I've purchased over the years, but I hadn't realized how the far the quality had diminished in the last several years. Just holding these boots now, they feel cheap and oddly stiff. The leather on them doesn't even feel like leather and the sizing has changed from how Vasque boots used to fit. I've had a total of five pairs of boots from Vasque since my mid-teens (Clarion, Clarion GTX, Summit) and if this is how the whole range has gone then this is the last pair of them I'll ever buy from them.
