Comments about MSR BlackLite Gourmet Cookset:
I returned the first set that I bought after the non-stick coating began peeling--about a year or two after purchase. The coating on the second set peeled within the first couple of uses. I use a dragonfly stove and only use bamboo or polycarbonate utensils--never metal. This one significant flaw is too great to overlook. I am going to go with stainless steel from now on.

Comments about MSR BlackLite Gourmet Cookset:
I have used this cookset for backpacking for about four years. Along with the other reviewers, I soon began to notice the exterior coating flaking off in large pieces. This wasn't so bad, but about a year ago, the interior coating began wearing off and is now peeling excessively even though I've only used plastic utensils for stirring. These days, with concerns regarding the possible carcinogenic toxins released from non-stick coating on cookware, I've opted to stop using the pots. I'd rather spend slightly longer cleaning a new, non-non-stick set than deal with the side effects of such a "flaky" product.

Comments about MSR BlackLite Gourmet Cookset:
I have gone through two sets of the MSR Blacklite non-stick pots over 6 years. They are sturdy, relatively light weight and do the trick.
However, the "non-stick" coating actually flakes off into your food, yum! Upside is that the pans are still easy too clean, even when the coating is completely gone.
I strongly recommend saving your money up until you can afford titanium or consider stainless steel (I hate to even suggest that).

Comments about MSR BlackLite Gourmet Cookset:
Poor quality at an inflated price. Concept of a higher performing cookset is great but poorly executed by MSR. Nonstick coating is thin and flaked off after about 5 uses (and I treated it with extra TLC + plastic utensils). For car camping you're better off buying something nonstick from the big boxes and getting 3 separate medium quality pots/pans for the price of the MSR set - and they'll last forever if you only go about 1-2 per month. If backpacking and gourmet cooking is you thing, MSR is NOT the solution.

Comments about MSR BlackLite Gourmet Cookset:
I purchased these and tested them in a camp situation first and I am glad I did. I used them on a dragonfly and after two uses the coating began to come off on the bottom. I use wooden tools so that was not the problem. Also, I pack them so they did not rub against one another. I bought a stainless steel set at a big box 40 miles away and it takes some work to clean but at least I am not eating toxins.

i've had my set for a few years now and i definitely baby my pots, but they've held up quite well. they do have a few scratches and even a slight dent on the lid. that's ok though, i know i've gotten my money's worth out of this stuff.

Comments about MSR BlackLite Gourmet Cookset:
I got these pots and pans when I was a guide. I thought, "hey, they're pretty cheap, but they look alright." Wrongo. Cheap yes, but they didn't hold up. Within a few weeks of use on the trail a lot of the teflan coating on the inside started to peal off! Also, the black finish on the outside started to come off, too.
It's a real bummer that they didn't hold up, because they made the perfect set for anything you could need. I now went with REI's Campware Nonstick Medium Cookset. They're not as light or compact, but they hold up great.
MSR makes great stuff, but I think I just had bad luck with these.

Comments about MSR BlackLite Gourmet Cookset:
I have used this set for over two years. I have thoroughly enjoyed them. They have been car camping, canoeing, and backpacking with me. However, they are simply too bulky to continue using. I am now in search of a smaller set. Farewell my friends, I banish you to the car camping section of my garage never to return.

Comments about MSR BlackLite Gourmet Cookset:
Small enough for backpacking but better suited to car camping. Set will nest with the MSR kitchen cupboard which will give you your utensils. Only use the MSR nylon utensils with this set. Any metal utensils will scratch the coating off. Also, always pack it up with packtowels between all the pans and the pan holder in the case or they will get scratched.

This has been the mainstay cooking pots for several years of car camping. Versatile, easy to clean, very compact. Love this stuff. Good value.
