    I used this for the first time trying to combine sunscreen and bug repellent to be more efficient with my backpacking space and weight. Within 2 hours on the trail, I was getting bit again - and with four hours on the trail, I was sunburned. It seems this might work if you are not sweating and just sitting in the sun at your campsite, but not when doing any activity that involves physical exertion! I had burns and bites after half a day hiking!

    Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

      I exist out in the field as a professional geophysical surveyor, working in a variety of outdoor scenarios. Bug and Sun is one of most valuable assets in the summer for dealing with extreme conditions. i don't cover myself with it to avoid sun and bugs completely, but used strategically, this product can keep those pesky critters away from the annoying places while providing some protection from the sun as well. i will apply a little bit around the edges of the eyes and around my ears and the bugs won't come near. i know immediately if i forgot to apply, for they will swarm me until i put it on. this product also makes me feel more comfortable than i do by spraying highly toxic chemicals on my skin, especially near my face. I also buy this product for the 30 members of our field crew force, and they all swear by it.
