We were kayaking up the Oswegatchie River in the Adirondack Park in New York. The water was tanic and didn't look overfly inviting. We used the MSR Sweet Water filter to draw water right out of the river. It worked wonderfully, not only was the water delicious and clean, but the design of the pump is easy on your wrists and arms. Some inferior pumps are not so nice to use.

I have had a Sweetwater Water Filter for at least 10 years and use it on every overnight trip. The features that I like the most is the lever handle that ergonomically allows to pump water easily and efficiently. The filter can be removed in the field for easy cleaning, Great product to have on any backcountry trip!

I've had this filter system for over 16 years. I bought it for a scout backpacking trip and it has followed me ever since through the back country and deserts of Utah. It has never failed me and has always provided me with perfect drinking water. The inline pre-filter helps to sift out the big chunks and the filter cartridge does the rest. Very simple to use and clean. It was worth every penny to me!

I have had my Sweetwater guardian since 1995 and it is still my go to filter, I've had to change pump heads only twice and once was due to freezing on trail which was my fault and lesson learned. I have the viral guard for dicey areas and the siltstopper which greatly increases the life of the element. I use it heavily on Boy Scout trips and long distance backpacking and it doesn't let me down. Clean it regularly on trail, separate pieces to avoid cross contamination and you're set!
