I swore by this watch for 6 years in the Army and believe me I put this watch through some serious product testing. It never let me down except that the actual watch band tends to lose its durability fairly quick.

I've been mistreating this watch for almost twelve years now. Yes, the same watch, the same band. I never take it off, either; it goes in the shower, ocean, pools, mud, everything. The leather sections of the band are pretty clearly on their last legs, but they've been in that state for years and have yet to fall apart. I landed directly on the face of this watch in an epic bike crash in 2005, and, despite the impact and the ensuing slide across the pavement, all the watch suffered was the tiniest of dents and a few minor scratches which are invisible from most angles. Perhaps my favorite thing is that, when the battery starts dying (I've replaced the battery maybe 4 times), the watch continues to keep correct time for days, though its movements become increasingly jerky. Frankly, I'm dumbfounded by the high quality of this watch; I'll probably pony up the full $[$]to replace it when this one dies. My only complaint is that the glow sections of my watch are barely visible in the dark, which can be incredibly annoying; but another reviewer mentioned that Victorinox has changed the luminous paint they use, so apparently this isn't a problem with the newer (21st century) versions of this watch. All told, this is a simple, reliable, understated watch that's built like a (thin and lightweight) tank, and I'd recommend it to anyone, assuming the quality of craftsmanship is the same as it was when I bought mine.

I wanted a rugged watch that would stand up to abuse. I think the Swiss Army watch does ok in that department. I was disappointed, however, by the low-light visibility system. I couldn't see the hands in the dark. The watch face would glow for a bit when exposed to intense light, but fade away quickly thereafter.
I called Victorinox and it turns out that they replaced the old Tritium based paint with some Lumi-Nox stuff. I told them my problem and they very generously replaced the paint on my watch for free. I just love being able to tell the time in the dark without fumbling for a flashlight.

I had this watch under water more than above ,so to speak,and it lasted 14 years of service. I am sorry to say it has run it`s course for now but I am going to Ressurect it! I know but 14 years .....Christopher Walken would be proud.

I have been wearing my watch for about 15 years. I don't wear it as often now as I used to (hard to wear watches while using a laptop), but did wear it daily for a very long time. I bought two, one for my ex and one for myself. The watch is kept going, but the marriage didn't.
The crystal is incredibly durable as well.
My only complaint was the band did not last very long, as the leather fell apart. Having said that, I am not sure I have had another watch (other than metal banded watches) that I have not replaced the band after several years.
I wear the watch on my right arm, so the stem does tend to rub on my forearm, but that's because I am all backwards, so I can't really blame the watch, I suppose.
A great, slim watch--well worth the price.

This thing just won't die. I've had mine for over 10 years and the only scratch I got on the face was when I fell directly on it rollerblading. This is one piece of equipment I can always count on. And it looks great, no matter what the situation is.

I spotted this watch in a catalog over 16 years ago and had to have it. I've worn it regularly ever since. I've replaced batteries and bands but the timepiece itself has earned its place as one of my most treasured possessions.
