The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Mini Candle Lantern:
There are times when small luxuries can enhance your experience on trail. This small lantern is one of these.
I carry this lantern in my pack on extended backpacking trips in northern Minnesota, and rely upon it for three things:
First, I use it as a "guide light" when I set up camp. I typically hang this near the tent and let it burn until I go in for the night. It is a useful beacon to keep myself (and my son) oriented when making short trips to a backcountry latrine, for example. I consider this something like a safety feature.
Second, when going into the tent, I hang it from the hook loop in the top of my tent and leave it on while getting tucked in.
Third, I just like the light of a candle lantern when it's black as pitch outside.
The only drawbacks to this lantern are the following: Since it uses a tea light, the wax liquifies, and if the lantern is tipped severely, the wax will run out. This is not ordinarily a problem, however, since the base of the lantern has a reservoir to catch any spilling wax, and it will not drip out of the unit. Second, it is not quite as bright as a candle lantern, but then it is also a fraction of the weight, even if you carry a few extra tea lights.
This is one of those small niceties that other hikers with whom I have occasionally shared a camp site will comment on.

Comments about Mini Candle Lantern:
This is a great lighter alternative to the larger candle lantern. It gives off just as much light and is much lighter. Each candle gives off about 3-4 hours of light, more than enough for a night. These are great lanterns to hang in your tent. Just be sure not to bump your head on them, I seem to do this all the time.

Comments about Mini Candle Lantern:
Everyone agrees that you should carry a candle. I have carried this model from the Florida Keys to Canada for 25 years! The lantern holds 4-5 extra tea candles. (12+ hrs of light). Its the most versatile candle lantern - because you carry seperate candles. (option to have light in different places at the same time) Very cheap to operate - buy a bag of tea lights at the dollar store or anywhere! Enjoy!!!

Comments about Mini Candle Lantern:
I own the original UCO brass, and an original aluminum as well as a recently acquired mini and micro (micro is similar to mini but collapses similar to the original). Both smaller versions using tealights drip and aren't that much lighter than the original, as well as giving off less light. The micro is shorter, but wider, and not much lighter at all (see pic). UNLESS YOU LITERALLY COUNT GRAMS, GO WITH THE ORIGINAL IN ALUMINUM!! Trust me here. I use beeswax candles in the original which cost a little more, but last alot longer. I was drawn to the tealight versions due to their size, but was very dissapointed. I keep them in my emergency box for home use due to not wanting to pawn them off on someone else due to integrity. Yeah. I'm that disappointed.

Comments about Mini Candle Lantern:
I finally got to take this camping with me the other night and while I was a little disappointed it is still a great product! I was assuming that when I hooked it to the top loop in my tent it would provide enough light for reading and such, but it mainly illuminates the top part of the tent, which is more than enough light to get situated if that's all you need. I got this lantern because of its lightweight, and I really didn't want to buy specific candles online for the lantern. This used tea lights, which are extremely cheap and have options with scents, ect. It does drip wax when tipped, but the wax catcher does what its supposed to. A down side though is the arms that hold the candle don't work if wax got on either the cup of the candle or the actual arms (Its gets to slick and candle slides off) And it is the size about of a v8 can perhaps, and the bottom screws off where you put in the candle then you screw it back on. It is great and the handle doesn't heat up even when it's directly about the top.

Comments about Mini Candle Lantern:
I agree with all the positive remarks posted. The only thing you have to consider is the degree to which the unit heats up. After a while, the top gets quite hot to the touch, which only makes sense. Heat rises. As long you keep that in mind, you won't be distracted from the benefits of such a trick little light.

Comments about Mini Candle Lantern:
It doesn't give off a whole lot of light, but it sure beats the intensity of everyone's headlamps. Great for ambiance - and very lightweight! There's just something about a candle that is soothing.

Comments about Mini Candle Lantern:
Headlamps are useful, but sometimes you want to sit around camp and not have to stare at the harsh light off of those things. This is perfect for creating a soft light which doesn't intrude on the surroundings.
