Comments about Mini Candle Lantern:
There are times when small luxuries can enhance your experience on trail. This small lantern is one of these.
I carry this lantern in my pack on extended backpacking trips in northern Minnesota, and rely upon it for three things:
First, I use it as a "guide light" when I set up camp. I typically hang this near the tent and let it burn until I go in for the night. It is a useful beacon to keep myself (and my son) oriented when making short trips to a backcountry latrine, for example. I consider this something like a safety feature.
Second, when going into the tent, I hang it from the hook loop in the top of my tent and leave it on while getting tucked in.
Third, I just like the light of a candle lantern when it's black as pitch outside.
The only drawbacks to this lantern are the following: Since it uses a tea light, the wax liquifies, and if the lantern is tipped severely, the wax will run out. This is not ordinarily a problem, however, since the base of the lantern has a reservoir to catch any spilling wax, and it will not drip out of the unit. Second, it is not quite as bright as a candle lantern, but then it is also a fraction of the weight, even if you carry a few extra tea lights.
This is one of those small niceties that other hikers with whom I have occasionally shared a camp site will comment on.

Comments about Mini Candle Lantern:
This is a great lighter alternative to the larger candle lantern. It gives off just as much light and is much lighter. Each candle gives off about 3-4 hours of light, more than enough for a night. These are great lanterns to hang in your tent. Just be sure not to bump your head on them, I seem to do this all the time.

Comments about Mini Candle Lantern:
Everyone agrees that you should carry a candle. I have carried this model from the Florida Keys to Canada for 25 years! The lantern holds 4-5 extra tea candles. (12+ hrs of light). Its the most versatile candle lantern - because you carry seperate candles. (option to have light in different places at the same time) Very cheap to operate - buy a bag of tea lights at the dollar store or anywhere! Enjoy!!!
