Comments about REI Braided Nylon Cord - 50 Feet:
This is some really useful rope (as the title suggests...) for just about every outdoor purpose you and imagine and more. I have used this to make lanyards, neck bands for sunglasses, clotheslines, tent guylines, monkey fists, zipper pulls and even to hang bear boxes. You can also make lightweight belts and attachments for your chalk bag. One other handy thing for group trips is to make bracelets out of them to mark the end of a trip/group bonding. Just make sure you have a knife and lighter on hand to seal up the cut ends and prevent them from fraying.

Comments about REI Braided Nylon Cord - 50 Feet:
I took this cord for food bag hanging on a solo backpacking trip in Shenandoah National Park, where they have the highest population density of black bears. I bought it new and before even using it - just taking out of packaging - the outer cover/braiding split in two places. While camping, it split in over a dozen more places over 4 days. The inner cord held, but the problem is that all the inner cord "bulges" catch on everything - including itself. The cord got hopelessly tangled at the slightest handling, would catch on twigs and branches constantly, and made it impossible to do a proper bear bag hang in which you have to pull cord through for clove hitches, bowelines, or other knots. I love REI products, but this one was very cheaply made. Fine for clothes, not for knots or bear hangs.

White inner fabric is sticking out of the orange covering. Defective?

This is good for many uses:
- as a clothes line for hanging wet clothes
- as a food bag to tie up your pack and food bags in tall trees
- as a security perimeter for bears (just hang bells on it)

Comments about REI Braided Nylon Cord - 50 Feet:
I thought this product does a good job for what it is. I use it to tie clothes together for packability, or hang them out to dry. I have also used it to stop shoes from falling on the ground while drying, and other misc. activities.

Comments about REI Braided Nylon Cord - 50 Feet:
I bought several of them, so I can have about 15ft on each of the tie points on my tarp, and I've ended up cutting one up to attach various things (whistle, hand lens, etc) to my cruiser vest, backpack, pfd, etc. the orange colour is great because its quite visible, even with a headlamp at night, so you are less likely to trip. I bought about 5 or 6 of them, and never had a problem with durability, and have been using them for a few years now. I'm going to be buying more too!

this is great for making traps. I made a trap so when my dad or whoever steps on the stairs a light goes off.
