Comments about Suunto M-9 Wrist Compass:

The Suunto M-9 is a good compass in this price range and being on your wrist is super easy to use although it must be held flat. It seems more sensitive to flatness than other compass's I use. The only improvement to the compass itself would be to upgrade with Suunto's global needle, but that would change the price point and the compass would probably not be as thin as it is now -- trade-offs.
BTW, the strap can be made to fit a smaller wrist by moving the compass closer to the buckle allowing more of the strap to double up.

Comments about Suunto M-9 Wrist Compass:

I am very pleased with this wrist compass. It is much more comfortable to wear than I expected (don't like wearing jewelry etc) and don't even notice it is on unless I'm actually using it. The included strap is more for a large man's wrist, I have a very small wrist which the band is much too big for, I bought a woman's silverfoot watch strap to easily replace it. It works great! Very, very happy with this wrist compass.

I'm a hunter & kayak fisherman. I'm also former Vietnam infantry.
This is an excellent wrist compass.
My only problem with it it is hard for me to read the degree in the sighting window because of my 60 year old eyes without my reading glasses

Comments about Suunto M-9 Wrist Compass:

I have used this compass on a thru-hike of the PCT, on several canoeing trips, and in a number of adventure races. It has held up well, and I really like being able to wear a watch on one wrist and a compass on the other. The downsides are that you're stuck with the included Velcro band (which can be a bit uncomfortable), and it doesn't orient quickly enough for my liking. It orients plenty fast for backpacking or canoeing, but in an adventure race when you're running and then hold up your wrist to look at the compass it can take two or three seconds (plus making sure it's totally flat plus maybe a jiggle or two) to get it to point north. Again, for most uses that's just fine, but in a timed race if you need to orient yourself 50 different times you've just lost 1.5 minutes.

Comments about Suunto M-9 Wrist Compass:

If your tandem canoe has a thwart in front of the stern paddler's seat as mine does, wrap this around the thwart and you always know your heading. It does not slip and can stay in place for portages. It may be handy on your bike handle bars too

Small and accurate. I wear this handy little guy most days. The only complaint I really have is that you can not get a rubber wrist strap to my knowledge. I dislike cloth because the tend to smell after a few consecutive days of wear.

Comments about Suunto M-9 Wrist Compass:

Much better than the tiny wrist compass's or those zipper pull types. The smaller they are the more they seem to get stuck when rotating to the correct direction. This compass is great when travelling in large cities when coming out of subways and trying to re orient yourself.
