Comments about MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set:
I absolutely love this cookset. It is a bit heavier than the aluminum/titanium models, but it is absolutely bombproof. Use it on backpacking stoves, cookers, or just throw it in the fire, it can take it all. While non stick has its advantages, the stainless steel scrubs clean, and makes the set much more durable. Besides, whats the fun of having gear if it doesnt look like you have used it a bit?

Comments about MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set:
This is an outstanding product! When used over a fire it is hard to beat stainless. As the metal becomes dark on the outside the heat is spread more evenly across the surface... I have used this for everything, and love how the lid doubles as a plate or a skillet. It can be buried under a campfire or used on a ministove (Pocket rocket). I carry a small bottle of Olive oil to help with the sticking issues, but there is always some cleaning that has to be done, as with any stainless cookware. The new lighter stuff is great for stove cooking, but this is awesome for any use you may have... enjoy!!!

Comments about MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set:
The only con to this cookset is the weight. Not that they are incredibly heavy, but I'm sure a titanium cookset would reduce weight a touch. That said, I've had the set for about 8 years and LOVE it. The pots are incredibly durable and they are the perfect size. The large pot is just the right size to fit a dry soup pack (with the required 8 cups of water). It goes right up to the brim, but perfect for a minimalist.

I am using this on by boat for an extended cruise. I have been using them for 7 months, 2 to 4 times a day, without any problems. No handle is great for a rocking boat. Very good and stacks well.

From that great quarry outside of North Andove MA, to the depths of the Nicolet National Forest in WI, this set has gotten me through some interesting times. Took a little longer to black up than I like, but once it does, it cooks like a dream. I got the XPD heat exchanger with mine, well worth the extra few bucks if you're doing anything cold weather.

Comments about MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set:
Though a little bulky and heavy, I really appreciated how durable this cookset is. Already, mine has some dings, and is pretty beaten up, but is still usable. If you burn your food, it's a little hard to clean. Of course, if you have a good cleaning pad, it can be a little easier. One more point, stainless steel last longer than anodized aluminum. So, expect to keep this cookset for life!

Comments about MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set:
This is one of the first things I bought [...] years ago. It's not as lightweight or non-stick as the newer stuff but it's still in great condition. Even during the years I wasn't camping, I used the pots for a pseudo double-boiler on the home stove. The only reason my pan doesn't look good is because a friend mistakenly heated it without any food on it. People don't always realize that you should never heat camping cookware dry. It's not the same as cookware you have at home.Hopefully the newer pot grip works better. The one that came with my set is awful.

I replaced some smaller pots with these pots because my beloved Dragonfly stove fits inside. This saved me space without giving up a thing. For a cycle tourist this is invaluable.
I have toured through SE Asia, China, the west coast and Mexico with these pots and they just keep on performing. They are very durable and the handle works well for me.

Comments about MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set:
Reasonably-weighted for what they are. Not impressed with them being made in Thailand. I thought for sure these kinds of things could be made in the USA...
We used this cook set twice, and on the second usage the large pot warped and discolored. First usage was summer, boiled water for pasta dinner - no problems. Second use, we were melting snow in the large pot to make water to boil for -- again, pasta dinner. Despite our culinary excitingness, I heard some shifting when we started melting the snow. I thought it was just the stove (also MSR) just shifting on the snowy platform we'd made.
By the time all the snow had finally melted, I noticed some brown discoloration in the bottom of the inside of the pot. After cooking and eating, I looked at the pot's outside bottom, and realized that some of the metal coating had discolored (turned blue/brown), and that it had dented and warped where the burner was.
Perhaps there was something we missed about snow/ice or extreme temperatures in the instructions, but I didn't think it's unreasonable to expect that stainless steel would withstand such conditions. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I will say that pot grips are an AMAZING tool, and was glad that this set came with some, and that the pots are well-suited for use with the grips.
