Comments about Open Country Explorer 12 x 6 Grid:
This is a great piece of gear to have along if your backpacking trips include fishing. I use mine with a woodburning backpack stove and it works great for grilling trout. A little aluminum foil and some butter, salt, pepper.......it doesn't get any better.

Comments about Open Country Explorer 12 x 6 Grid:
I'm so glad to see that these are still being made. I got mine over 20 years ago and still use it often. Mine has been all over the world and it fits just great at the bottom of my pac. It's funny the things that I get attached to, I reckon this little grill is one of them! Don't leave home without it!

Comments about Open Country Explorer 12 x 6 Grid:
I used this grid while car-camping on the way to trails. Some of the campgrounds that I visited used tire rims as fire pits and some had just plain broken grids. Right side up it performed beautifully for cooking over an open fire. Upside-down it fit just right on the tire rims for grilling meats and cooking over charcoal when the site grids were missing or not up to par. When used upside-down the legs become handles. Perfect for 1 - 2 people on the go.

Comments about Open Country Explorer 12 x 6 Grid:
I carried this grill on a three day backpacking trip and it performed perfectly for what I needed. I was traveling in a group of guys and we all split up the weight of our dinner meals. This grill was an excellent tool to bring along so that we could cook bratwursts for all of us at the same time. It is kind of a short grill, so make sure your fire is not too big; we had too much wood on the fire and burnt the first few brats we cooked.I am usually a minimalist packer, but the grill folded nice and flat, and I was able to strap it on the outside of my bag just fine. At 14oz, the grill is well worth carrying into the backcountry if a lot of people are going to use it. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 relates to the fact that it is a little unstable and flimsy. However, I guess that is what you get for something that is lightweight and affordable.
