Comments about MSR Alpine 4 Pot Set:

Troop 6 tested these pots on 5 stoves at 20 degrees. Boiled 1 pint water on each stove for test. On the Whisperlite Internationale, an uncovered pot took 6 minutes and thirty seconds to boil; adding the lid (which fits very well), dropped the boiling time by a minute and a half; fitting it with the heat exchanger and cover together, reduced the boiling time to just four minutes. This is our primary cookwear for hiking and kayaking. Excellent. Very durable. Holds up to Scouts use.

Stainless steel - NOT!

    I take EXCELLENT care of all of my gear. I camp out about 1 weekend a month, but used this particular MSR cook set only a few times a year for the past year few years. I clean it and store it dry as soon as I get home. It developed rust on the bottom of the large pot about the size of a quarter on the outside and it rusted clean through about the size of a pinhole on the inside! MSR will not replace their product because I don't have the receipt from years ago. This is MSR stainless steel that rusts! It never came into contact with anything corrosive, I keep it stored with the rest of my gear in a clean trunk, ready for my next trip. I am extremely disappointed by the poor quality of this MSR product and will never buy another MSR cook set.
