The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Side-Release Buckle Strap - 1 x 40 in.:
Thought these would be a good buy to add some extra straps to my backpack. Webbing is fine, and the buckles work as expected. The problem is the design of the buckle where the webbing is threaded through. Like so many strap/buckles coming from China these days, it only holds against lateral pressure. As soon as any outward pressure is applied the webbing slips freely. So when you need them to hold secure they won't if there is any outward pressure at the buckle. Exchanged for Outdoor Research straps and they work great, with no slippage.

Comments about Side-Release Buckle Strap - 1 x 40 in.:
I've used these straps (all sizes) on multiple outings and so far have had great results. On one hike someone came with a school backpack with a bulky tent and loose sleeping bag tied in shoelaces dangling from the outside. With every step he took the weight shifted on the back of his pack causing him to have a miserable time. After a short learning period he accepted my offer to strap his gear down. I used 4 60 inch straps and all the gear on his pack was snug and compact. Made a real difference for him on the rest of the hike. If I had one extra I would have also made him a hip belt to better distribute the weight.
I also took two of these (40 inch version and cut down to length) stitched them to the bottom of my REI Venturi 40 pack to create straps for my bed roll if I need to pack additional gear. Works really well. So many uses for these things that there is no reason not to carry a few just incase.
