I’ve been using the Samaya 2.5 tent for about a year now, and it’s an excellent all-around shelter. What I love most is how well it handles the infamous Patagonian winds I’ve had it out on the ice field multiple times and it’s proven to be really strong and reliable. At the same time, it’s light enough to bring on summer trips, which makes it versatile year-round. For the weight, the strength is impressive. Inside, it’s quite spacious easily fits two people with a lot of gear, or three with minimal gear inside. The only downside is that setup takes a little longer than a traditional two-pole tent, but that’s a small tradeoff for the space and performance. Overall, a super solid, lightweight tent that punches way above its weight in tough conditions.
Samaya tents are simply the best. I used the 2.5 for nearly a month in the Indian Himalaya on an expedition and I can’t recommend it enough. It is mind blowingly lightweight, so easier to carry than most. We endured a few heavy storms with wind, snow and fluctuating temps and it proved reliable and trustworthy. Storage pockets inside make gear organizing efficient. We fit 2 in here because we had to much gear for several weeks at altitude, but you could easily fit 3 smaller (ish) ppl for shorter strike missions.
