Similar than the review made by bruno28036 rating the boot with 3 stars, after 1 day of intense skiing I started getting a pain on the lower part of my tibia, such that I could not wear the boot anymore I have been using and racing Salomon since mid 1980s from SX91 équipe to racing and sPro 130 etc and always appreciated the balance between comfort and precision the boots provided however, I was not expecting this boot developing the issue after few hours of use When the issue occurred I tried to fit my old Salomon shoe into the new SPro boa, although the pain was less, I could feel the same pressure point at the bottom front part of my tibia which could result in damaging the inner shoe I tried the new shoe into the old boots and realised the new inner shoe had lost it’s confort not being able to put pressure on the shins I also noticed on the an indentation on the front of the inner shoe which appeared in the area causing the paint, due to extreme friction with the outer shell. Basically the inner shell are now damaged, this is for both right and left The pictures shows the indentation on the shin and some plastic material present in the outer shell resulting of the friction between both parts The conclusion is: The outer shell does not provide the support expected by advanced skiers Be aware that the boots in the shop feels confortable with the feet being very confortable until you start using them on the slope. The boots were used with a pair of Salomon Xrace skis with a radius of 19 meters and 87degr edges on hard packed snow I had to carryon using my old SPro 130 retiring my new SPro Boa 120…. I hope this review will be useful to other skiers and more important to Salomon to make sure that products are kept to the standard expected by users Happy to be contacted to share further details
Quick Review: - Purchased Solomon SPRO/120 boots (26.5) - Greatly improved my skiing while maintaining comfort - Purchasing and Sizing experience at REI Manhattan Beach was TOP NOTCH Detailed Review: Updating ones ski boots is never something one looks forward to. The old boots fit, feel good, but have lived out their life. Such was the case for me. I could sleep in my old Salomon XWAVE 8.0 boots... but I was also swimming in them when I skied. I did my own research, and narrowed my choice down to 3 boots (Lange RS LV, Salomon SPRO Alpha C BOA & Salomon SPRO 120). I had to consider availability, comfort, review feedback and level. I normally like to demo skis and boots before purchase, and do this at the mountain. Thus, going straight into a purchase was a concern for me. A visit to REI allowed me to double check my research. I was concerned that REI may not have the skiers experience. HOWEVER, after meeting REI employee "Gunner", an avid skier and ski racer, REI earned my confidence in ski expertise. See, Gunner actually has multiple boots that he uses depending on conditions and what he is doing. His recommendation for an advanced skier, included having the BOA for the lower boot, but was not convinced that it made sense (yet) for the upper/shin portion of the boot. The SPRO/120 had that exact combination, with BOA on the bottom & buckles at the top. I purchased the Salomon SPRO/120 boots online, and once they arrived, I scheduled time with Gunner to size the boots. I had already spent a few hours with the boots-on-feet at home (which Gunner later made sure I had done). I was a bit concerned they may be too tight. He remeasured my feet, and said that these boots should be a perfect fit. He completed the liner heat molding on the boots, recommended a new Superfeet Blue Inserts to replace the manufacturers. Very professional. I was at REI for about 1 hour to get this completed. The following week, I spent 2 days in Mammoth. WOW, these boots made a huge difference in my ski-ability, and I could say they markedly made me ski better and with greater confidence. Cornice, Scotty's and Climax tested the boots well. The BOA was great, providing appropriate and uniform squeeze on the foot, while I still had the course settings on the shin buckles, allowing for solid boot-to-ski control, but with good comfort. No futzing with the lower 3 buckles... two of which generally pop-off for me during a run, anyway. And the long walk back to the condo was very comfortable. My feet felt great after 2 days of skiing in these boots ,and I feel I could ski many days straight w/comfort - no hot spots, and the BOA made adjustments simple throughout the day. In the end, I am once again, happy with the Salomon product, but even happier with the great and professional service from REI. I highly recommend REI for boot purchase and sizing.
Ive been a Tecnica guy for quite awhile . Was happy with the fit until I tryed the new Salomon Supra Boa 120. Break-In took about two hours. Happy so far with fit, quality, weight ,and looks of this boot. I havent owned Salomon ski boots in years. Pleasantly surprised how much I like these boots. Great Find!!!
I don’t know what the deal with the rest of these reviews are, but here’s a review from an actual real person from the United States, who skis in the northeast. They are great boots for someone with a low volume foot looking for a tight fit, and good responsiveness. I found these boots to be stiffer than almost every other brand in the 120 range, including Lange and Nordica. I’m not 100% sold on the BOA system, but it seems to work pretty well. My only complaint is that these boots are exceptionally difficult to get on at first. Once they break in, it gets a little easier, but they’re still difficult. However, their performance and fit is fantastic. I’m very happy with my purchase. I would encourage everyone to try it on and see what they think..
The overall product is very solid, with great quality. The BOA system appears to be durable and easy to use. However, getting into the boot feels more challenging compared to the buckled version. The BOA system restricts the boot from opening up as much. The main issue arises from the liner tongue, which has a Velcro construction. If it’s not properly fitted, the rough edge of the removable tongue can cause discomfort in the front part of the foot.
I'm 61 and ski everything from the northeast to the west coast. I purchased these because my 5 year old Nordica Cochice boots finally gave out. Once I slid my foot into the boot and set my heal I new I had to have them. The toe box is plentiful and the instep comfort is really impressive. I did try some newer Nordica's, Fischers and Head boots, but eventually came back to the Salomon BOA 120's. My one and only issue is the design of the adjustable tongue has an area of velcro and where is meets the rest of the liner causes some discomfort right were my toes connect to my foot. It's only on my right foot so I'm trying to figure out a way to mitigate it as adjusting it does nothing. It's not a deal breaker and I'm sure I'll figure it out. I went with the off white color and they look pretty cool (IMPO) with my new QST 98's. Overall comfort is pretty stellar and they're easier to slid in and out of the most of the other's I demoed.
Only have a few runs on them around Colorado mtns and they fit my feet really well and offer great control at least on groomers since that's the only thing opened right now. I really like the boa on the top of the foot since it doesn't create any hot spots and applies even pressure overtop and keeps your heals planted
Great boot for a medium to large volume foot. I will say that with the adjustable Instep system it’s important to make sure it’s not overlapping the 2 fabrics. The boot does have a noticeable ridge just above the balls of one’s foot due to the adjustable instep devices.
The S/Pro Supra BOA 120 is a comfortable boot that performs at a high end. Ease of putting on and taking off as well as on slope adjustments is awesome. As a ski pro that is in my boots working all day and enjoying runs in between, this boot is the best I've had.
So far the boots feels good and pretty comfortable - I will test it more in 3 weeks during my ski trip in europe . I like the BOA system - it’s easy to use and practical . I give 4 stars for the moment because I need to test this boots more on the sloop in Europe
