Worth the money
So far I’ve used it three times, once for hunting/camping to charge my radios, phone, gps, etc and it seemed to handle very well. The next time I used it was to run a small space heater in my garage while I cleaned up and organized my garage. The eta to empty when the space heater was on kept saying 2.5hrs but I must have used it for at least an hour without that eta changing. The most recent time I used it was out of necessity. Power was out in my office and although I could have just gone home I thought, what a great opportunity! The base charge 600 powered the router, the switch and my computer for a solid 10 hours. Very cool, very useful!
The best in the market
We upgraded our power source from a different company. The features of the e base charge was top notch. To start, the wireless phone charging port is perfect for us to just throw our phone on there whenever we need to. Our base charge 1500 keeps our dometic cooler plenty cool for days at a time along with everything else we need to charge. We love the inward handle design that prevent taking up additional space when it comes to packing our gears in the car. From design to functionality, we’re super happy with our base charge and can’t wait to take it out with us on all our travels.
BioLite Great, REI Terrible
I hate to leave this review because I don't want BioLite to lose business because of it, but my hope is that this will somehow inspire REI to be a better company. So, I ordered this in July, it is now November, and it still says "In Transit". I contacted REI about this, and they told me that their shipping team says it was delivered (it wasn't) and that since it's outside of the 30 day estimated delivery window (even though it says it's still in transit), they won't give me a replacement or refund. So I'm out $450 thanks to REI's poor customer service. Good job, REI, you've lost a whole lot more than $450 by losing me as a customer.
Perfect size for long trips
My wife and I brought this with us to keep our dometic 55 running and to charge electronics. We kept the refrigerator plugged in and the battery charging off a 12v port. We did a week long trip of camping and exploring national parks and it kept charged and kept our fridge going the entire time. We did do a lot of driving which definitely helped to keep it topped off but while at camp for the night it stayed charged and then Recharged during the day while we were driving around the parks and making frequent stops to see the sights or go on hikes. It also didn’t take up much room in our rav4 set up right behind the driver seat on the floor. I can’t speak highly enough about it.
So far so good
With the winter storms here in CA this year I purchased the BaseCharge 600 to give us power security for home use. Of course the storms immediately stopped but I have tested it and can recommend. The form factor is great; we didn’t want a huge device and this is perfect for our needs. It has plugs and outlets for all our devices and the phone charging on the top surface is a great plus. As advertised the display information is very intuitive and helpful. I’m a neophyte with these devices and can easily tell the status of this device. Am almost looking forward to more storms to test this out. Almost
Does not work for Dreamstation CPAP
Got this power station to use with my CPAP while camping. I have a a Dreamstation, not dream station 2. At first it seems like it would work. Plugged in to DC power without the humidifier and all was well. Then after running for 2-3 minutes, the BioLite displays an error, "DC Overloaded". So a no go for the purpose I needed it for.
Awesome!!
We have this unit in a camper we built out, and it's perfect. It charged our 12V fan, phones, speakers, and camper lights for 5 days in the desert. Between destinations, we were able to easily recharge the unit off the carport, and it kept everything charged for 4 more days. The digital display makes it super easy to see the remaining battery life, which is nice when planning and allocating power during extended times at camp. It's easy to carry with the side handles, which is nice when we're taking it on and off the storage shelf. It's been durable and reliable over the past year.
Biolite basecharger
We got this for a power outage. This was great. Keep everything powered up that we needed. Easy to move to where-ever we needed. Would recommend
If only it charged faster..
The pricing is fair in the market for a name brand but the outputs/inputs are what set these units apart from the pack, not in a good way. The A/C charging is way too slow, 13hours when other brands can do the same in an hour or two, with a/c passthrough. Solar input is 10-30v but only 400w, too low for its price range. A/C inverter is average output, 3 outlets with ground pin is nice. These units use NMC batteries, do your own research, YMMV. While the unit is clean looking it has no way to secure it down if mounted in a vehicle, whats up with that? Biolite has some great products but this one and its smaller sibling are surprisingly very average. 5/5 for it working as it should but a 3/5 overall because of its competition. I tried to give this a fair chance but the lack of handle/tiedown made me return it.
Hi there! Thanks so much for the honest and thorough review! We’ll be sharing this feedback directly with the product and engineering team! When designing this model, the team prioritized portability, convenience, and solar compatibility for the end user. This resulted in a unit that is several pounds lighter than the competition, a wireless charging deck to meet one of the most common device needs (phones/tablets), and the fastest charging times via solar (3.5-4 hours). That said, your critiques are well-taken here and we're grateful you took the time to share this feedback! (Pro Tip - you can also charge in via AC and USB-C PD simultaneously, cutting down on charging times from the wall.) We'd love to connect you with a member of the product team to hear more about your experience and specific applications. We're always looking for ways to deliver designs that realistically apply to our customers' lives! Please feel free to reach out to us at support@bioliteenergy.com!
Very useful: almost perfect
This is a really well thought out battery and has some impressive power. I haven’t been able to test charging it with solar panels due to shipping delays, but I’m very interested to see how it works. The only design flaws are that the induction charger only can charge one phone at a time. Further, the induction charger does not work with iPhone 14 Pro Max because the curve of the top of the unit does not allow full contact with the 14’s larger size.
