Boy did I splurge on these expensive boots. But I have to admit, these fit like a glove from the moment I put them on. Granted, I did replace the insoles w/ formed fitting ones before hand. The ones already in there just didn't have the support I need. In either case, these boots are phenomenal, and this is coming from a guy that wore issued combat boots for 24 yrs not too long ago. I purchased these to keep me dry & hopefully warm as I walk at my part time security job in & around a local theme park in all sorts of weather. 99% blacktop but somewhat hilly. There are a few highlights I would like to point out: They seem to help w/ forward momentum when taking steps (especially up hill). Soles seem to have good grip on wet & icy surfaces. Definitely water proof & warm, even w/ just thin compression sox (it has gotten in the mid 20's). Hopefully not too warm for the Summer weather but only time will tell there. To me, they seem light weight (I can almost run in them just as I run w/ normal sneaks) & look better than pictured. So far (after about 7 uses), the only issue I've been having with these boots is that the laces seem to loosen after a few hours of walking, even after I double knot it & tuck the excess laces in my boot. I've also tried various knots. I may have to resort to buying military laces to replace them. Overall, if you're willing to pay the hefty price (my opinion) & possibly replace the laces, I would definitely recommend these boots for outdoor work (but keep in mind; not steel toes) &/or play.
Purchased these boots for a lightweight summer alternative as a daily work boot. I have worn these boots for not quite 3 months and have walked over 400 miles, on mostly gravel, with some asphalt. For most days, they are a comfortable boot, but when you get around the 8 mile mark, you can start to feel the wear on your foot. Have had one 13+ mile day and I would not recommend these boots for that distance. I am a bit disappointed with the build quality of the boot, as the toe rand on one of the boots is already separating from the boot material. My previous Zamberlan purchase was the Vioz GTX and that was an outstanding product. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed in the build quality and comfort of this boot, so I have ordered another pair of the Vioz GTZ.
Highest quality, comfortable, fits exactly the same size 11 as the Zamberlan boots that I bought 8 yr. ago (996 Vioz GTX). Shoelaces stretch and are poorly made, but there is no problem replacing those with better laces. Best for day hikes and every day city use. I would not wear these for a hike into the Grand Canyon. Heavier boots are better for that (like the 996 Vioz GTX).
