Out of the box I see clean welds and seams on all angles. Soles are removable but there was one sticker that was tough to get off. Once I put them on adjusted the laces to be snug the length of my foot. My foot doesn’t slip in the boot and makes me feel I have confident stance. The top comes right to top of my ankle bone. Just what I was looking for. These boots are Light! A reason I got this pair was the design and sharp look. It doesn’t scream “I’m going on a hike!” I want to be able to wear them to work without looking like Mountain Man. I plan on hiking in rainy conditions, slippery rocks, and wet stairs.
Took them on a intermediate Colorado five miler for first run. I was very happy with the fit and performance.
I had high hopes for these boots considering the Danner name and the cost, but I am not impressed. The first thing I noticed was the rubber toe guard was actually just black paint and provides zero protection and by my third hike the paint was coming off. The removable insole is just a flat piece of foam, crazy for the price point. The insoles are just throw aways. The Gortex lining leaked almost immediately just hiking in a brief rain shower. The boot is comfortable and the Vibram sole is awesome, plenty of wet grip on all surfaces. The boots are way over priced for the quality and I'm very disappointed Danner has their name on it. I would recommend spending your money elsewhere!
The ankle support is very odd. If you tie the laces tight enough to offer support it hurts your ankles so you just have to keep them kind of loose. I’ve worn them for a week or so now and the black rubber coating on the toe has rubbed off pretty substantially. Disappointed in the quick degradation. Previously have been a Merrell user and I wanted to try something different. Regretting that choice.
Vasque, Asolo, Hoka, Timberline, Nike, North Face, Merrel, OboZ, tried em all. Using a Brannock device my feet are 8.5 E wide (just barely an E). I Have narrow heels and thick (bottom to top) feet. Bought these (size 9 EE) after a friend recommended them and WOW, they fit! Put 60 miles on them during a rainy 3 day urban trip and no heel slippage or forefoot swelling. Lots of toe box room and the external heel counter at the back seems to do it's job in preventing lateral movement (honestly, I didn't even know what it was for). After 3 months buying another pair as I tend to wear them daily now.
This is a great shoe! These are my dailys, i where to work where i put alot of miles on walking and they hold up great! They keep my feet dry and breathe nicely keeping my feet dry from sweat! Probably my 5th or six pair of the 2650’s They look great also, and i always have a nice pair for going out! Work, hiking, fishing. I found Danner over 10 years ago and finally the hunt was over for a good shoe/boot that i could count on and i never looked back! My only complaint is my dogs seem to like them too and have enjoyed chewing a few pair through the years!
This is an incredible shoe. It's so good, that I had to return it twice because one of the lace hooks was bent inward on the first two pairs, and I couldn't easily slip the lace into it. The third pair was nearly perfect, but there is one flaw that has nothing to do with the design of the shoe and everything to do with it's packaging. For whatever reason that makes no sense, Danner used an extremely sticky shoe size sticker and placed it on the insole where your heel goes. When you try removing it, it damages the thin layer of branding and graphics on the sole. I tried using alcohol to remove the sticker, but of course, this also loosens the adhesive on the graphic layer. Over time, wearing the boots, that graphic comes away. A purely aesthetic issue that no one will ever see, but it is there, and you should know about it. Hopefully Danner will realize you don't need to super glue the shoe size sticker to the insole. Otherwise, these boots look and feel AMAZING!
Soles already starting to separate with less than 50 miles. I've used various other Danners for work and hunting, so this is pretty disappointing. Maybe that's why these were on clearance. Hoping this was just a bad batch, but planning to return or exchange.
Great boot! Comfortable right of the box. No break in requied. My first hike was 8 mile round trip on the the AT and the boots performed exceptionally. I'm looking forward to many more hikes.
They look good and feel good. I needed a lighter weight boot for warmer weather. They fit the bill. I will install an REI sourced arch support since my feet are quite flat, though the foam inner sole is ok for moderate distance walking. the only minor complaint is that the upper most lacing hooks aren't quite deep enough causing the laces to slip out of the hooks if I'm not careful to keep tension while lacing up. There's also a lot of friction through the holes so getting out of the boots and in again is more difficult than my higher end Danner boots. I mail ordered after trying them on at the outlet in Portland; the delivery was quick.
