ENO  Guardian SL Hammock Bug Net

The SL bug-net is much easier to slide on a hammock than the guardian bug-net was! It’s much lighter and the horizontal zipper make getting in the bug-net much easier. Plus the wide opening at one end helps when putting on a under-quilt or a mummy-pod! I highly recommend it!

Pros: lightweight, packs down small, easy to set up Cons: as other reviews have mentioned the ends to not cinch down far enough to completely enclose the hammock, which does let some bugs in. A bigger issue is the cheap zipper, which failed on the first trip I took the net out on. I was able to repair it, but it failed a second time on my next trip, and this time it was not able to be repaired. I know this is designed to be as lightweight as possible but I would gladly sacrifice a fraction of an ounce of weight for more durable hardware. I'll be looking at different options for my next hammock net

Took this on a camping trip to boundary waters. The issue is the top does not cinch down completely and if you are in it and even the slightest pressure on the net the top loosens and a huge hole appears. Got so many mosquitos in my hammock. Needless to say it does not keep bugs out. Poorly designed, get a different bug net. Unusual for eno to design such a poor product.

Better than expected. I use it with a Kammok hammock and it works just fine. I like that the ridge line is integrated. Also the zipper is great. I thought it felt really light weight, but I am not hiking around with it (my Mom thought the box it was in was empty).

This is a well designed bug net. Keeps all the creepy crawlers off at night. Only con is that it doesn’t seem to be deep enough to accommodate a sag for hammock campers. It’s harder to get that perfect lay at an angle due to the size constraints albeit still possible. I will likely upgrade to an integrated bug net hammock in the future but this will do until then. For less extreme use I’d say it’s the perfect net for an afternoon nap or reading a book in the hammock.

I started to get into Hammock camping this year and bought a full ENO setup to try out. I do find that I sleep better in a hammock then I do on even the thickest pads on the ground. So the Guardian SL Bug net is a good item, if you don't create a ridgeline for your hammock. The reason you create a ridgeline is the make the hammock sag so that when lying down you can diagonal yourself and lay fairly flat. By inducing some sag the Guardian doesn't allow for that and I had problems zippering the net shut. I knew the Net was just pushing on my under-quilt and it was very hard to close it. I know that it will fail since it wasn't designed for it. So if you plan on using it for the backyard or lounging and want a bug net, then it is fine for that . For backpacking use I'd look into different options.

I recently purchased this to go lighter than the original ENO I had. I have 2 major design flaw issues to point out to other consumers. First, the zipper failed me and after multiple efforts, I could not get it fixed or to restart, so I had to call the camping trip early. Second, this bug net is too short for a double nest (not sure why they would make a bug net that isn't compatible with all their hammocks), but I woke up and the net had slid down the hammock about 12-15", leaving me exposed. I ended up having to cut some paracord and tie the ends tight since the short length was putting too much tension on the bug net cinches. Even if it was the correct length, I also think that the cinching system for both end is not strong enough (especially the larger opening which is just way too much material to cinch in that way) and leaves potential for bugs to find a path in.

Much needed improvements from old sl. Lighter and better ridge line set up. The old style would pull into the lining if I didn’t tie it to the closure line. Zipper is great and makes it much easier to get in/out.

This really worked great and made sleeping in the hammock so free of anxiety. Took me a couple of tries to get it on right but it's really quite simple. Of course you have to have an Eno hammock or one very much like it. It was a great purchase.

I only used this bug net once since it arrived and after setting it up, it appeared that the ends weren’t going to be closed enough to keep bugs out but it did or at least I didn’t find any insects in my hammock. Time will tell.
