Rated4out of5byfromGreat Long Trip Yak!I've taken this yak on a 50+ mile, 3 day trip on the WI river. It performed perfectly, tracked well and can turn on a dime if needed to avoid sanbars or timber. It's a low profile yak, so don't expect to fit a weeks worth of gear in it easily, if you pack smart you'll be able. However, the area behind the seat held my camping chair, small folding camping table, PFD, and a frying pan. I thought surely it would be too much weight on the backend with a bunch of gear already loaded inside as well but it took it like a champ! Easy to adjust foot pedals while in the yak too. When loading the kayak before your trip, if you elevate it, don't place the supports directly underneath the storage hatches, it will buckle! Whether your a beginner or advanced paddler, this will work for you.

Rated5out of5byfromGreat buyThis is my first kayak, so my review won't include chine and volume and all that technical jargon; but seeing as the lack of online reviews made me a little nervous about purchasing this boat, I want to share my experience. Size/Weight/Comfort: I wanted a longer boat with plenty of room, but not quite a sea kayak. Something I could take for multi day trips along the coast of the Great Lakes as well as just play around in some of the smaller lakes and rivers near my home. This boat fits the bill perfectly. Although ~60lbs sounds about right, its size makes it a little difficult to waneuver while lifting. I could manage getting it on a passenger car, but I need assistance from my paddling buddy to get it on top of my Jeep. I think a handle near or in the cockpit would really help, and will look into a solution. I am 6'2, 220lbs. I can fully extend my legs in the cockpit when I take my feet off the pedals if I want to (although your legs should be bent as to contact the thigh braces). The seat is comfortable (so far the longest I've been in it is 4 hours) and adjustable for good posture and fit. General Worksmanship/Harware: This is the part I was most worried about, considering the price. I am happy to say that this is a solid kayak, it is everything I would expect from a boat a few hundred dollars beyond its cost. The only minor gripe I have is that the line used to lift and lower the rudder runs through guides made of folded over nylon webbing (I've seen this on more expensive kayaks as well). When everything gets wet the rope can "stick" a tiny bit. This isn't a huge issue as all you have to do is pull a bit harder, but nonetheless I think I will incorporate some small steel rings into the webbing and run the line through those or look for another solution. Stability/Maneuverability/Tracking: I was a little nervous about the stability of a longer, skinnier kayak. It being the second or third time I got into a kayak, the first thing I did when I got in was almost tip over. The first five or ten minutes were a little iffy, mostly because I was nervous, but after that I started to gain confidence and the more time I spend on the water the more I am surprised by how stable it is. Without deploying the rudder, it is a bit harder to turn than a shorter boat but much easier than I thought it would be; although my skills need some work, it edges and responds to steering strokes very well. Color: By far the least important thing for me, but highly important to some people. My girlfriend purchased one as well and they are nearly identical. The red/orange/yellow do not contrast nearly as sharply as in the picture and the overall appearance is a pleasant, warm, yellow-orange.
