I use this boot for hiking on rough trails and scrambling in the mountains. They have excellent support of feet and ankles. They work well for me on both steep uphill or downhill. As a bonus the traction is very good. I haven't had them long enough to attest to their durability, but am quite confident they are going to last a long, long time. Now is not the right season but I am sure they would work well with crampons or snow shoes.

This boot appeared to be very well made but just did not fit my foot. I have never needed a wide shoe in the past but actually ended up buying a wide boot other than this one.
