Raleigh Roper Bike - 2013is rated5.0out of5by2.
Rated5out of5byfromGreat Bang for the BuckI purchased the Roper from REI after an extensive search for a Steel frame, disc equipped cyclocross bike that I planned on using for commuting. The Roper is the best bang for the buck I could find. It has a stiff, yet compliant steel frame with mechanical BB5 disc brakes and full 105 groupset. At this price point, it is nearly impossible to build a comparable bike for less. I have been commuting daily on it 20 miles each way on a mixture of Road and Rails to Trail (crushed gravel). I couldnt be happier! I love this bike and look forward to riding it. I did change out the knobby tires for a set of smoother commuter tires, just to give me a bit better rolling ability on the pavement. Only small negative would be the weight of the bike. As I use it for commuting, its not that big of a deal, but if I was to race with it, I would look to shed some weight (mostly change out to a lighter wheelset and possibly carbon fork). If you're considering this bike, get it!

Rated5out of5byfromLoving this bike thus far!I've loved riding this bike so far. I've put on 300+ miles since selling my car and purchasing a bike. It handles great on everything, from road to gravel to dirt! Really quick despite having nubby tires which is nice as well. Braking and shifting are really responsive which is great on a nice day and a rainy/raw day.
