Chaco Rex Sandals - Men'sis rated4.1667out of5by6.
Rated4out of5bydfunk-5fromStylish sandalsThese are cool sandals. They are my second pair of Chaco's. My first pair, the Z-2 Unaweep, are great! I got them in a wide size and they are a little bulky but hold their own when the going gets rough. I treat them as a hiking shoe.
That said the Rex sandals are minimalist. A step above a flip-flop as they don't have the same hardiness as the Z-2's but provide some support and foot stabilization. They are great sandals for the moderate adventurer!

Rated4out of5bySpaz06fromJust what I was looking for!!!Was looking for a comfortable sandle that is easy to get into & out of that doesn't feel cheap. I like the toe strap feature of these sandles it allows you to do activities like biking and hiking without the constraint of a shoe. The only thing that would make this a 5 star was if it had a buckle on the strap that would allow for quick release without having to readjust the straps everytime you put them on/take off but other than that they are just what I was looking for.

Rated4out of5byBravoFoxtrotfromGood all-around footwearI purchased these sandals to use for water crossings and to wear around camp while backpacking. I have yet to use these for that purpose but have found myself wearing them a lot anyhow. I am a size 9.5 and sized down to a 9 for these sandals and they fit perfectly.
They are relatively lightweight although I would prefer a more minimalist product with a thinner, lighter sole and less arch support. However, I read other reviews and I knew they would be a bit bulky for me from the beginning. They are however, a vast improvement over the original Chacos.
They are very comfortable although at first I found the extra strap way too long when tightened, almost to the point that they dragged on the ground. I then read that many experienced Chaco wearers leave the midfoot straps slightly looser than would be intuitive. Surprisingly, making this change greatly increased the ability of the sandal to stay on the foot in motion and was more comfortable all while shortening the extra strap considerably.
I really like these sandals and wear them way more than I thought I would but would refrain from giving them five stars (I would give it a 4.5) because I believe they could still be made more minimal and also, the colorways that this product is offered in are just plain ugly.

Rated4out of5byBarn SwallowfromLighter weight, same rugged designAfter living with Chacos for several years, I have found no better sandal. This new design is lighter-weight and just as tough; though I don't think these will last for five years like my previous pairs. The sole is not made by Vibram, instead by chaco -- a non-marking material consisting of recycled rubber. I've noticed that they don't grip quite as well, but they do the job well (Chacos have never gripped that well. I don't think that Chaco can resole this model quite yet, which is a down-side. The straps are more supple than the unaweep , which makes for almost no break-in time required. So far, I've had them for a few months, and in that time I've taken them on several backpacking trips. I don't usually wear boots, just sandals. These give me all the support I need, and the lighter-weight design is significantly noticeable. I wouldn't want to hike with a really heavy pack, but they are supportive enough for me to carry thirty pounds without an issue. Overall, these are great sandals that live up to the Chaco reputation (unlike the updraft model released sometime last year).

Rated4out of5byBoulder HikerfromPretty AwesomeThese are so close to being great. Fit great, perfect support and the straps feel great. Part of the rubber sole is cracking already, which is a bummer. The straps are also way too long. These details are pretty easily forgotten though.

Rated5out of5bySuperMickfromReally confortable. So far, they are awesome. Much ligher weight, and just as comfy as, my old Z/2's these replaced. I just wish they came with better looking straps. These green straps look like they were 'recycled' from an old fishnet or something. The women's sandels have much better color straps.
It's been a month and they seem to be durable. I'll know more about durability in a year or two, after a rafting season. I've worn them on our hawaii vacation, and they worked great on the beach and in the water.
