Rated4out of5bynchmurafromsuper lightweight...good constructionI first started running in minimalist shoes last Spring with the Merrell MixMasters. I run 25-40 miles a week and have done 4 marathons in the last 4 years. I wasn't sure what to expect as prior to that I trained in fully-cushioned brooks shoes. so this was kind of a risk. There was some pain for a couple of weeks as i transitioned to the minimalist design but i cut down my mileage temporarily and eventually i grew to love them. I picked up the bare access this January and these are very similar to the mix masters-- maybe a little less support. First - they are so light!! Really - they weigh basically nothing. but they have held up well in the snow in NY. my feet get wet but the shoes show no sign of deterioration. there's not much support but, with that said, my feet are well-protected from the road and I don't feel like i'm hurting my body on the pavement. I wouldn't recommend them for everyone but if you don't have many injuries and are looking to try a super light weight minimalist shoe, i would highly recommend these. I will certainly be buying Merrell minimalist shoes again. I've heard about minmalist shoes wearing out quickly but i have not had that experience with Merrells. also, these run big. I wear size 9 in other brands but get 8.5 in merrell

Rated4out of5byWaylandCfromGreat ShoeMy foot measures 10.25" by ~4". I ordered the size 10 (US) shoe and it fits well. Without socks it has a bit more room and with socks it fits snugly (good). My initial thoughts were that the shoe was both too long and too narrow but it isn't. I wouldn't mind a bit more width in the toebox but it doesn't hinder me as is.

Rated5out of5byMN HunterfromRun LightI bought these last summer as a everyday shoe as well as for running. Im not hard core but I do like to be very active in many different ways. This shoe blew me away with how light it was and yet was surprisingly comfortable. My feet usually get very warm in the summer and these breath very well. Over all, I love this shoe. Hope it works for you too!

Rated3out of5byRugballfromComplete redesignI have the original Bare Access, and I'm glad that Merrell added a full-length Vibram sole because the first version's soles got chewed up rather quickly on trails. What I find strange about the redesign is the stiffer flat sole. This model fits my feet much differently than others in the "barefoot" line of which I own several pairs. Due to the flatter contact with the ground rather than the more rounded edges I feel some pressure around the bottom edges of my feet and they are less wide (not narrow, just not as wide in the forefoot), therefore I wouldn't attempt to run in them. I can wear thicker socks with most other Merrells, but can only wear thin socks with the BA2. They also lack the omni-fit lacing which is another mark against running in them. While I would still recommend them, I would not advise using them for running (your mileage may vary). I bought 2 pairs (grey and black) for wearing around the office instead of dress shoes and on walks.

Rated5out of5byFreeridingfromSuper LightBest shoe I have ever ran with. I have been training for the Houston marathon with this shoe for the past 6 months or so. Its VERY breathable, maybe because of the amount I run with them they get worn out faster than most users. Only complaint I have is the grip. I do lose traction sometimes. Once you lose traction a couple of times you lose confidence with the shoe and it can effect your pace. However, after learning to trust the traction, this shoe is wonderful!!
I highly recommend this to any trail and/or street runner.
I highly DO NOT recommend this shoe to any heel strikers!!

Rated5out of5byJeff - scout dadfromMost comfortable trail running shoesI'm a bigger guy with high arches and a somewhat wide foot. I use these for street and trail walking and jogging. They're excellent. By far the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever had. I've put well over 100-150 miles on them and they're still going strong. Just bought my second pair.

Rated5out of5byPlease try againfromAlmost zero drop, comfortable, minimalArch borders on too high, but it is still comfortable. The sole is pretty much flat, without nubs all over the place, so it is really only meant for pavement running. Definitely not meant for heel strikers. Perhaps the most comfortable running shoes I have tried, next to my Merrill Trail Gloves.

Rated5out of5byTourprotofromSuper light, stable running shoeBeen a wearer of Solomon trail shoes for many years, but was looking for shoes that were lightweight and packed down very small for business trips. I had tried Nike Frees and didn't like the insert. While I have only had them for about a month, the Merrell's are as light, but more stable than the Nike Free. Time will tell if they are as durable as the Solomons.
