The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated4out of5byhiking veterinarianfromGreat Value!I have had this pack for about three years now and we love it. This hits a great niche between the pricey Ruffwear and the cheap, poorly fitting packs available for less money.
The large fits an 80lbs Labrador wonderfully.
We have hiked well over 900 miles since purchasing this pack. It has actually held up better than my Gregory pack! We have not had any issues with chafing as others have described.
We are just now seeing some wear on the front edges. I wish that there was a patch of the material that is used on many pack bottoms and shoe rands for protection there.
I also wish there were a few lash tabs for his bed roll, but we made our own, and they work well.
Yes Ruffwear has a few more features, but at this price point, there is nothing better out there.

Rated1out of5byThe adventures of the Richards FamilyfromInaccurate Size ChartsI am unfortunately unable to give a thorough review of this product as it did not fit our pup when we brought it home today. The size chart stated 26"-35" for a size small. Our pup measured 27" around the rib cage and 23" around her belly. Given the measurements she should have plenty of room for adjustment and ample room to grow. Sad to say this was not the fact. All the straps were fully extended and she was almost too big for the chest strap and entirely too big for the belly strap. We will be making another hour drive to return this product tomorrow. I would suggest bringing your pup with you to avoid the same situation as the size chart is inaccurate. Hopefully we will find one that will fit properly.

Rated5out of5byPhoto hikerfromWorked GreatThis backpack was very easy to put on my dog and the adjustments were very easy to use. I was worried that they would come loose on a hike but after a 4 mile 2000 ft climb they held in the same position. The pack has lots of room for food and water and I also put her boots in it. We have hiked about thirty miles with it now and it shows no signs of wear.

Rated3out of5byMexPrepfromYou can make it a 5 star bag!I like this bag and wish i could have given it 4 or 5 stars but after a strap tore off after the second day of using it i almost gave it a 2. I gave it a 3 because after looking around online i didn't think anything else was much more durable. I took the bag to my tailor and had him reinforce all the stitching and now i feel like its a good bag. I like the way it looks and how much space it has and after i fixed the stitching problem my bag is a 5 star product. Bottom line- Buy the 3 star bag and for an extra 10 bucks make it a 5 star bag. I personally couldn't find anything better. Unfortunately everything seems to be made a bit cheap nowadays. My dog is a German Shepherd.

Rated3out of5byTheRowdyDogfromWish It Would Have FitI think this pack would have been pretty great, but it just wouldn't fit my dog. I have a 62lb mixed breed with a 30" chest, which put him in the Small size. He is 23" at the shoulder for reference. Everything fit except for the belly strap which wasn't even close. His belly is about 26" around. I returned the pack and tried a Medium, and the belly strap fit, but sat right on top of his man parts (so, he would have peed all over it and I'm sure it wouldn't have been comfortable). Like I said, I think I would have been pretty happy with it if it had fit. If you have a dog without a deep chest, this one might not be for you.

Rated5out of5byyodanfromGreat packGreat pack for our 4 year old German Shepherd. We got the large size and it fits him perfectly. We've done 3 backpacking trips and no problems whatsoever.
Even the first time when we put it on him, he did not complain and just went with it like it was nothing.

Rated4out of5byspookyfromVery durable on an active water dogMy dog has worn this pack about 6 times. He has never carried more than 5 total pounds, which was 2 meals, a collapsable bowl, and water to equally distribute the weight. He notices the pack for about a minute and then off he goes. It barely slows him down, instead of lightening speed, he is only racehorse speed. He has thrashed through tall grass and heavy brush, jumped over and scooted under countless blown down trees, and rolled completely submerged in creeks and lakes. The last time he wore it, he was totally submerged several times, and nothing in the pack got wet. I think it's pretty indestructable.
That being said, from the first time he wore it, the strap that fits behind his armpits chafed him pretty bad. I tried twice to refit it to him to stop the chafing, but rather than continue to hurt him, I decided to modify the straps. Now the Y-strap junction and the underchest strap are wrapped in one of those sheepskin seatbelt straps. This pads the strap and has eliminated the chafing. The belly strap has never caused any problems, and he doesn't mind peeing with the pack on, the belly strap doesn't get in the way at all. I think that he probably doesn't need the Y-strap junction to have the modified sheepskin pad, but I have left it on him anyways.
I am confident that the pack is the right size. The fantastic people at REI let me bring several packs in different sizes out into the parking lot so Buddy could try them on and walk around the shopping center (before I bought any of them). The size I bought is definitely the best fit.

Rated4out of5byacwongfromPapa's got a brand new bagI purchased this pack for my new American Bulldog and it has performed fairly well. The sizing and straps make it easy to find a good fit, however, I wish that the Y-strap for the chest was a little more substantial. The pack does have decent breathability but it could be even better had they designed it with some mesh and padding on the inside of the bags themselves. Having said that, there is ample space in the bags for pretty much anything you'd want your dog to carry. The construction of this item has proven to be of good quality with the seems and straps all remaining secure and undamaged which is important if your dog tends to pull. The last thing I would add to this pack is another D-ring for connecting the leash; preferably somewhere in the chest area. At least for my dog, having the leash connected in the front rather than on his back makes it easier for him to practice good walking behavior, however, some dogs may not have any issue with that. All in all, this bag is a good purchase with good construction but this item could've been made that much better if they had designed it with just a couple more features. If REI makes any revisions previously mentioned to this item, it will be some of the best money you could spend on your pet.
