Comments about New Balance MT110 Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I purchased the mt110 last spring for a trail running class I was taking in college. I have been an avid runner four about six years now and from day one I have run on the same style of traditional running shoes. But when I bought the trail shoes I was immediately converted. I absolutely love the amount of terrain feel and control that you get in these things. They aren't as minimalist as some of New Balance's shoes but they are great for someone who wants to go the minimalist route but doesn't quite want to give up all their cushioning.
I used these shoes pretty heavily on the trails around where I go to college...averaging about 20 miles per week for 10 weeks. After that I started running with these shoes on the road and although they are advertised as a trail shoe, they do very well on pavement. I really like the added traction that the outsole gives you. It just seems to make you feel like you are more planted to the road, especially when it's wet.
More about the shoe itself: the arch support is excellent, and the fit/shape of the shoe compliments my feet very well. They essentially embody the phrase "fits like a glove." Like I mentioned above, the traction on the road and trails is unparalleled. Good breath-ability as well. On a side note, these shoes clean up very well too. Just hose 'em off and set them out to dry and you are good to go!
Another side note: I recently hiked South Sister in these shoes. while I wanted something with a little more coverage to keep the rocks and dust out of socks, they handled surprisingly well. The softer blue part on the outsole took a little beating but other than that the shoes took it like a champ.
Minor cons: the rubber mesh at the top of the toe box is slightly ripped on both sides from encounters with sticks. This is simply a cosmetic issue and has nothing to do with the performance of the shoe itself. Another issue is that the blue part of the outsole wears pretty quickly. It is designed to give extra cushioning and such but it really just get eaten up by whatever terrain you happen to be running on.
This is by far the best shoe I have ever owned and I would buy them again! NB hit it out of the park with this one

Comments about New Balance MT110 Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I bought these as an upgrade to the New Balance MT101s (which I absolutely love). The 101s suffered an unfortunate sharp stick injury.
Compared to the 101s the MT110 has quite a bit more traction and the toe-box is a bit wider.
These shoes have a very sock-like feel and lace really well. The uppers are very breathable and let water stream back out with ease. The sole wraps around nicely on the toe and is cleated on the toe as well. This makes climbing muddy hills a lot easier.
These are a minimalist shoe, and as such have minimal padding or support. The hardened nylon rock plate is a real foot-saver. I run on some nasty terrain, including a railroad track, and the rock plate comes through every time. Much safer than running in something like the Vibram 5Fingers.
I rated this a tentative 5-stars because the blue portion of the sole (the mid-foot) is wearing very quickly. The MT101's predecessor didn't have any tread hear, so perhaps it wasn't meant to be durable. If I start to notice a loss of traction, I may downgrade them to 4-Stars.
I've got about 30 miles on these shoes right now. I've only run trails, no pavement. Terrain includes mud, grass, rocks, streams and puddles (big puddles, or small ponds), clay, and sand.

Comments about New Balance MT110 Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
After my first run in these shoes I loved them so much that I wanted to rush home and write this review. Once the excitement died down I realized I should put them through a bit more use before I jumped to conclusions. So now that I have around 60+ miles of mountain runs in them here is my review.
I ran in a Cascadia for years and have been wanting to try a less built up shoe. I admit I was a bit skeptical that the 110 would be enough shoe, especially for my trail 50 miler this summer, but after a couple 4 hour runs I can say that my feet feel just as good as they did in the Cascadia's, no hamburger feet or beat up leg feeling.
The fit is amazing and my best description is it feels like you are running in moccasins that have just the right amount of cushioning and great traction. The upper hugs my foot and really locks my heel down into the shoe. Being so low to the ground has almost made rolling ankles a thing of the past.
A late spring snow/sleet storm turned one of my favorite trails into a mudfest and put the traction to the test, they performed great
I used to run in a size 10 in the Cascadia and I am also a size 10 in the 110's. I have a narrow foot with a medium to high arch and the shoe fits great, although it might be a squeeze for someone with a large volume foot.
One last thing to mention is that if you are coming from a traditional shoe with a large heel/toe drop, transition into the 110's slowly. They will stress parts of your foot and calf that haven't seen action in awhile.
Overall, an excellent mountain/trail shoe. Be sure to try them on though, they aren't made for everyone.
I can't wait to get back out this weekend and run in them again.
