Comments about Coleman Steel Belted Cooler - 54 Qt.:
Ever since I was a boy growing up with this cooler I have wanted one. Our first use was for a pre Cinco de Mayo party and we took it right into he hosts kitchen. We hade single serving margaritas in canning jars and lemonade for kids. Very retro and 6 days later it still has ice in it and some cold beer for the patio.

Comments about Coleman Steel Belted Cooler - 54 Qt.:
My father had an old cooler like this, has had it longer than I have been alive, but it gave out aafter years and sits in the garage holding old tools. Saw him looking at this one in a catalog and talking about how he missed his older one. So I got on REI and bought it for his birthday. Great for camping and or fishing in hot weather, like hot Idaho Summers. Holds its temperature better than your run of the mill cooler that you get most places now days. It is also a great price for what it is. Very durrable.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivered from Washington to Idaho in a matter of a few days. Very impressred with how fast REI delivers.

Comments about Coleman Steel Belted Cooler - 54 Qt.:
It's not cheap, but in 102 degrees in the back of my canopy/truck in Utah, I had 4lbs of dry ice and about 8lbs of ice and there was still ice at the end of my 2 day backpack trip when parked in the sun. Used it solid for 3 weeks and am glad I spent the money. Stopped for ice every 2 days. Sometimes 3.
Keep it out of the sun if possible, the metal does heat up quick which will affect performance.

Comments about Coleman Steel Belted Cooler - 54 Qt.:
I bought a plastic cooler and came home with buyer's remorse. So I went back to REI and exchanged for the Steel belted cooler and am pleased with my purchase! This is a sturdy unit, confirmed after catching 3-4 year olds jumping off the cooler onto a mattress pad! Retains internal termperature extremely well. A bit heavier, but that is directly attributed to the quality of the exterior. Handles are sturdy and the unit is easy to drain/clean.

Comments about Coleman Steel Belted Cooler - 54 Qt.:
Haven't used this model much(6150,55), but seems to do what we bought it for: holds ice for 2-4 days, and has a good volume. Aside from the brilliant white plastic,( really? Significant thermal reflectivity? Make it irreversibly dirty so the emotionally offended-able will pitch for a new one?) The drain plug fitting has leaked on both units we've tried, with the 2nd & 1st use. Satisfied with the quality/price/performance, but there's a design/manufacturing flaw in play with the current units.(purchased Feb.& April '12)

Comments about Coleman Steel Belted Cooler - 54 Qt.:
Bought this cooler as a replacement of our old steel belted that got lost during a move and glad to say its still the best out there. On a recent camping trip we brought this along with a Rubbermaid and saw a real difference. The Coleman kept ice for about 4 days in 90 degree day / 60 degree night temps while the Rubbermaid was going through ice every day and a half. Still miss the old Coleman screw drain plug but other than that, this is the same cooler you grew up with and loved.
