I joined the barefoot running craze and now wear these shoes or nothing at all. I ran the Chicago Marathon in these last year and they've held up great -- just bought my third pair. Two warnings: 1) fit is very personal and you need to try these on rather than ordering online; and 2) if you are new to barefoot-style running, start VERY slow; no matter how experienced a runner you are, start with one block (1/8th mile) and add a block a day. If you're doing it right, you're using very different muscles that will get injured if you aren't gradual.

Work great so far. There is a use curve with these though, so don't start running more than a 1/4 mile if you've never used this type of shoe before. I've slowly been working the use up to just under 1.5 miles right now.

Honestly, I wear these as my everyday shoe and I love them. It's like gloves for your feet! They are super comfortable and incredibly lightweight. The laces are the best. I wouldn't buy a pair without them. They allow you to slide your foot in and then quickly tighten them up for the perfect custom fit. I wear them as camp shoes too. I have done some light hiking in them and they functioned flawlessly but I have not yet trusted them on a longer backpacking trip. I'm just too nervous about rough terrain for a long trip with no support underneath. Love these shoes!

Ran in them for 18 months (about 1000 miles) before they wore through in the big toes. Bikila LS easier to get on than some of the other models as the tongue allows them to be pulled up onto the toes. Washed them in the laundry every few weeks, they still look brand new when clean except for the wear-thru in the toes. Hiked in them a few times, but I think one of the KSO models would be better for that purpose. Replacing them with a pair of SeeYas just to try something different - I was very satisfied with the Bikilas.

I have not ran in the shoes as they were designed for but walking and overall wearing of the shoes have been enjoyable. The Bikila is my first pair of "toe" shoes and I am happily satisfied with them. As with anything new, especially these, you have to have patience in putting them on at first. The sole is thin enough to feel large rocks and uneven surface, but after a day on the Green River rafting and other fun outdoor walking around, my feet were not tired or sore. They were surprisingly great!

This shoe is amazing!!!
I first put it on in the first week in August 2011. Exactly one year later, I now have 1,010 miles on this same pair and I will continue to use them until they fall apart. I had to add some ShoeGoo to the sole from time to time and mended the material that wore out between the toes few times. I also have the VFF kangaroo leather Trek LS that I used during the winter, but my Bikila LS are my main shoes!!!

This is my third pair of Vibram FiveFingers. My previous two pairs were KSO models and were used more for casual use and wearing around the gym. I bought the Bikila LS specifically for running using a toe strike technique. For this purpose (which is really the intended purpose of these shoes), these shoes work flawlesssly at shorter distances. They have slightly more tread on the sole, which make them more comfortable for running on the streets. At longer distances (> 3.5 miles) I find that these shoes do not provide enough protection to the soft tissues on the bottom of my feet. That being said, I have run a 12k in these shoes successfully and enjoy doing my shorter runs in them.
The lacing system on these shoes is very nice. They can be adjusted easily to fit your feet compared to conventional laces.
If you're going to buy a pair of FiveFingers, I recommend trying them on in person. Though minor, the variation between shoes of the same size is noticeable. I purchased my current pair in the store and chose shoes of the same size out of two different boxes. I recommend trying on several pairs and mixing them to find the correct fit.
