by BonfromGreat shoe, not so good with sandI walk on the beach most often and the first time I was in and out of the water, these shoes collected sand and rubbed me raw. After repeated rinsing, I couldn't get all the sand out. I tried the washing machine, I tried pounding, shaking, etc. For my feet, having sand in the shoe was intolerable. Until the beach, I was loving this shoe - so sad.

by AínefromGreat Design, Poorly Executed Seams! These were the first Vibram FiveFingers that I absolutely had to have. I was in love with the style, the design, and the color (black with yellow accents - not offered online, but at my local flagship store). I loved the thicker sole and the multifunctional upper, I envisioned taking them to South Africa with me on my long safari, going from hiking to backpacking to truck to ocean, without ever having to change shoes.
Unfortunately, the seam on the left big toe hit me right between flesh and nail, causing pain like an ingrown toenail. A pinching, radiating nerve pain that makes it miserable to walk, much less wear them for a reasonable 8 hour time period. The other toes also had deep grooves in the tops due to the weirdly placed seams. I held out, hoping that I needed to wear them in, stretch them out, get used to them. It didn't help, and two weeks later I had to return them.
I'm crossing my fingers that a KSO Trek or a Flow will fit my foot better, as these Komodos were very snug at a 36 and easily 1/4 inch too big in a 37. Weird. The REI employee even commented on how huge a difference there was between the two sizes.

by EpicBeautyGuidefromWanted to love theseThese were comfortable, but I was super disappointed with the sizing. I have narrow feet and the width was perfect, and the shoe was overall very comfortable. However, I was a 38/39 in order to suit my foot length and big toe, and a 37 in order to suit my other toes. The length over the remaining 4 toe pockets was too long for me and I had a lot of empty space in the pockets. I have pretty average feet and it's weird that there is such a big length disparity. I ended up getting the Merrell barefoot shoes from REI instead, which I love, but I would have loved to have a pair of VFFs since they would have been fantastic for hiking, rock climbing, and running around.

by Skidder13fromVery nice, but color is NOT as depicted.I've tried the Bikilas, but had issues with being too snug over the top of my foot. These are awesome, with no issues thus far with the arch at all. My only complaint would be that the color is definately NOT what you see in the photos. If you look at the photos on the web, anywhere on the web, you see a vibrant blue with lighter color blue lines over the big toe and the arch, and an even lighter blue in the meshy areas. In the photos, there is a clear difference between all the colors, and the details stand out.
What I received are much less brilliant in color. In fact, the color blue of the lines over the toes and arch are the darkest color on my fivefingers. The meshy area is as depicted, and the overall blue of the top is a shade of blue that would be between the color of the lines and the mesh in the photos. You actually have to look closely to see the lines on top, as the rest of the top is just a bit lighter in color than the lines.
Overall, I didn't want black, so these are definately not that. Just not quite the WOW factor in the color I was expecting.

by CindyKfromgreat use for the REI dividend! So I had the REI dividend and coupon burning a whole in my pocket, and wanted to try the five fingers out.
I have wide feet and a square shaped foot, so I wasn't sure they would fit. I was surprised how well they fit! It was between this and the KSO's, and even though the KSO's came in plain black, these won out. I am using them for fitness workouts, and they are great. Probably not going to use them for anything else except a one-off experiment. I'd buy another pair if I decide to expand my use (and wait for another coupon cause they are a bit pricey).

by Hawaii Beach BumfromSuper Comfy!I love the feel of this style of 5 Fingers. I also have the Classic style but it hurts the back of my ankle to the point where I can't wear it anymore, but the Komodo style is GREAT! Far more comfy. I wear it for walking the dog on paved surfaces, at the beach, and easy hiking trails in the mountains.
My only caution to others is that this shoe is very slippery on wet metal surfaces like water meter covers on the street. I have a bruised knee because of it. But that won't deter me from continuing to use these shoes because they feel so good. I'll just refrain from using it when it rains.
I purchased the blue color but it doesn't really look like the color on the screen. It's more like a periwinkle color. I like it even better than the blue I thought it was going to be.

by scwfromBuy them snug, they stretch out!The following is my experience using the online measuring instructions provided by Vibram's official website. (I purchased directly online, never tried them in store)
I followed the measurement instructions online when I purchased my KomodoSport and decided to order a size 39. My big toe and second toe are about the same length, but I used my second toe length for the official measurement. For size reference, medium width foot, street size W8.5, for Saucony ProGrid Guide2 and Saucony Kinvara I wear size W9.
What I immediately noticed when I received my vibrams was tightness on my left big toe (beside that, everything else fitted fine, and no problems with the right foot). The tightness made me worried because it was uncomfortable and I thought I had made a mistake ordering them online without ever trying them on. Then I searched online and people were saying they stretch out so I decided to wear them around the house to break them in. Sure enough, after wearing them for ~1-2wk, the shoes stretched and are now comfortable and fitted.
The experience was similar to purchasing snowboarding boots where you want your boots to be fairly snug initially (almost a bit tight) and they DO stretch out.
