My wife uses these almost daily for everyday wear as well as weekend hikes. Light and comfortable, just not waterproof, so fair weather wear.she usually gravitates to Keen hikers, but likes the feel of these even better.

Salesman recommended going 1/2 size bigger and it worked out great. Wearing two pairs of socks, I went on a six mile hike the first time I wore these and still didn't want to take them off.

The salesman encouraged me to go a half size larger due to how your feet swell when you hike. Glad I did. Wore them on a 6- mile hike first time out and they felt like a dream. No breaking required. Ample support on rocky unstable terrain.

Comments about Patagonia Drifter A/C Hiking Shoes - Women's:
The shoe description says "Light and Nimble"??? Um, not at all! I needed a new pair of low top day hiking shoes. I chose these for the tread. In the Puget Sound, even the everyday hiking trails need some good traction. I read someone had said they were kind of clown shoe/clunky feeling when they put them on. Totally true. I wanted to decide for myself if they were too heavy and they are. :( The footbed is super comfy, the toebox is roomy, and the heel cup really holds the heel. I felt they ran a half size too big. Sadly, REI.com doesn't have the selection of shoes I'm searching for right now, but the store here locally still carries the Merrell Siren Sport which I already have a pair of I bought 4 years ago (and have wore out from the inside out). Guess I can exchange for those! I was just looking for something new. This shoe is more for working out in your yard....not hiking.

Comments about Patagonia Drifter A/C Hiking Shoes - Women's:
I love hiking but suffer foot pain from conditions including low arches, bunions and arthritis. I had resigned myself to putting up with the discomfort because I don't intend to stop hiking. These shoes have proved to be a miracle find: they fit my damaged feet very well, provide great support and stability, and most importantly protect me from pain. I bought them just before a trip to Colorado; they were comfortable right out of the box, and I had no foot pain even after miles of mountain trails. Also impressive to me was their traction; I had absolutely no problems with slipping, even in the rain, on tree roots and rocks. They're also proving to be very durable, and I expect that I'll get years of service from them. I'm recommending them to everyone I know!

I needed a new pair of hiking shoes to replace a pair I had worn out, but waited until just a couple of weeks before leaving on a hiking trip to Washington to buy these boots. We hiked around in Olympic and Rainier National Parks for 6 days. I was concerned that I hadn't had time to adequately break them in, but was thrilled with the way they performed. Even after Rainier my feet felt comfortable, not a hint of a blister. They are a little heavier than my old low top hiking shoes, but they more than make up for that with the excellent comfort and support. LOVE these boots!

Comments about Patagonia Drifter A/C Hiking Shoes - Women's:
I love these shoes. I am older, with various foot problems and wear special insoles, which fit well in these shoes.I hike long distances in desert and mountain terrain and like a solid shoe. These fit the bill. They have amazing traction both wet and dry, the footbed prevents stones from bruising your foot, the large footprint is very stable, and they are comfortable. They do look a bit like a boy's skate shoe and I agree with other reviews that the heel is bigger but everything else makes up for these two drawbacks!

I use custom orthodics in all of my fitness shoes but when I put these on for the first time at home, I found that I did not need them. It's almost magic how comfortable and supportive this shoe is. They're pretty cute, too :)
The best hiking shoe I have ever worn.

Comments about Patagonia Drifter A/C Hiking Shoes - Women's:
I agree with the other reviewer, the heel box is too wide while the wide toe box is welcome. My solution was to cut a 1" strip of Mole-foam (not skin) and put that in the heel. Be sure to add better insoles and then put your mole foam in there.
I wore only TWO pairs of these shoes on my 2, 650 mile thru-hike of the PCT last summer. That's great value, never mind the price tag. LOVE these. It's all about a hard sole with great traction. You don't feel the rocks and trail and you do not need a boot.
I love the Patagonia Drifter.
