Comments about Gregory Deva 60 Pack - Women's:
I've used this pack on 2-3 day hikes so far. One hike was in the snow and my pack 40 lbs, but I barely felt it. It still amazes me how I sometimes have a hard time lifting my pack to get it one, but once it's on my back I don't even notice how heavy it is. I love all the storage pockets and straps. The sleeping bag compartment is the perfect size. The pocket on the top is in just the right place so I can keep my map in it and access it while I'm hiking. There is so much room that even with a full Camelbak bladder I haven't even come close to filling it to capacity yet.
Yes, it is heavy, but it is so comfortable that I don't even care. I'm excited to take this backpack on even longer hikes!

Comments about Gregory Deva 60 Pack - Women's:
I tried this on in the store and thought it was extremely comfortable. My husband saw it on sale a few weeks later and bought it for me. I had to take it back to the store to get it fitted correctly, and the staff did a great job of helping me with that. This pack has many great features. The top converts into a day pack.
One of the best things about this pack is that you can change out the belt and straps to custom fit it it to your body. I'm a short, stout (okay, fat, but stout sounds stronger) woman, and I've always had a hard time getting things to fit me properly. I went with the extra small frame and medium sized belt and straps. So far I've loaded it with 10 pounds and hiked around in it. I've yet to do an overnight trip, but I have packed it up with all my gear and everything fit perfectly. I really like the pack. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is a little heavy, but hopefully the extra comfort will be worth the extra weight.

Comments about Gregory Deva 60 Pack - Women's:
This is the third pack that I have tried out for backpacking...third time was the charm!
The pack is so comfortable. It feels like it was custom built. I tried the Osprey Aura 50 but the shoulder straps were to narrow at the base of my neck so I opted for the Gregory Deva 60 pack. There is ample storage. I love the easy access zipper compartment for the sleeping bag (with optional flap to divide sleeping bag compartment from main compartment).
There are two ways to access the main compartment: through the top and through a zipper to open it like a suitcase...very convenient. Top part detaches for a day use pack.
I love the position of the nalgene holder: instead of being perpendicular to the ground, it is parallel so I can reach it while on the go (and the bungee-like cord keeps it in place). Finally, the pocket on each hip belt allows you to keep chapstick and snacks easily accessible!
I just wish it had the mesh backing that some of the other packs out there have. I feel like I could have used more ventilation on my back; however, the contoured design of this pack was sooo comfortable!
Out of all my packs, I feel like this one allowed me to hold the most weight without feeling like it. For this most recent trip, my pack was 34 pounds but didn't feel like that at all!

Comments about Gregory Deva 60 Pack - Women's:
Went on my first overnight backpacking trip this weekend, using my new bag I bought a few months ago. I went in to the store to get fitted and am glad I did, and was nicely informed before I bought it that it would be going on sale that weekend - score!
We went on an overnight, 7-mile round trip with lots of ups and downs, and I stayed very comfortable throughout. My bag weighed in at about 29lbs. There are plenty of straps to tie everything down to a nice, compact bundle. Overall, it stayed pretty nicely on my hips where I wanted it, but if I didn't adjust it correctly there were a couple of times that I could tell it wanted to ride up a bit higher than where I wanted it; but I think this is more a function of my love handles getting in the way! Considering that I am a bigger gal with hips for days, I think it did very well! Also, the higher ride attributed to my least favorite part of the bag, which was that it did come up pretty far behind my head, so I wasn't really able to lean my head back very much. Not that I really needed to, but it was something I noticed. I wouldn't say that was a deal breaker for me, however.
My back stayed cool, and I never noticed any discomfort/rubbing/excessive sweating. The bladder sleeve was great and there was a convenient setup for my drinking tube to be anchored right to my chest strap.
The detachable day pack was okay - I tried it fanny pack style and messenger bag style and was just fine both ways, even scrambling over rocks. The front pocket was large enough to hold a Nalgene bottle, lightweight fleece half-zip, camera case and sunglasses case, so plenty of space. Not sure how much I'll be using it as a day pack in the future, however.
I wish there were more exterior pockets, and my next bag will probably be a little bigger. But this is a great bag, and I easily fit my sleeping bag and pad, roll-up camp chair, our two-man tent, and food/snacks inside, along with the bladder. I strapped my camp shoes and trekking poles to the exterior.

Nice pack for my wife. Not too big, not too small. Adjustable shoulderstraps are nice.
Service and delivery comments:
My wife was fit for a pack at an rei and sold a pack that was too small and not adjustable. Returned it used to another rei store and was refit to a slightly longer pack the exchange process was great. New pack fits much better.

Comments about Gregory Deva 60 Pack - Women's:
I was sick of using other people's packs that didn't quite fit me. I wanted something that was going to be able to used for backpacking as well as traveling.
It's fit the bill so far. It's been great to fly with as it will fit in most overhead compartments. The first time I really got to test it's merit was hiking into a site in Gifford Pincot in WA, where I knowingly overloaded at 45-50lbs including 4L of water. Despite the heavy load, it fit everything I needed for those two weeks and the weight distribution from the shoulders and hip belt were such that I didn't suffer any bruising or soreness (which had been issues in the past). The Sm fit my 5'10" frame quite comfortably.
My only complaint is that it didn't come with a detachable option for a light day pack. But I knew that when I purchased it. It may be a little on the heavy side, but the comfort and design of the pack makes up for it time and time again.

Comments about Gregory Deva 60 Pack - Women's:
I went to REI with a completely different pack in mind. Tried this one on just for sizing purposes and I fell in love. Told the store employee it felt like a giant hug! The padding is amazing and the weight distribution is unbeatable. Just got back from my first weekend backpacking trip with it and it surpassed all my expectations. I was carrying at least 40-50 lbs in it and it felt like almost nothing. I am 5'4" and 115 lbs and was able to carry about as much weight as my 6'6" camping buddy. The swivel hips feature was great for climbing over fallen logs, rocky ground, etc. without losing balance. Plenty of pockets, loops, etc so all my gear had a place and stayed organized. The removable top compartment was nice for bringing toiletries into the tent. I can't wait for more adventures with this awesome pack!

Just returned from a 5 day trip into the Grand Canyon. This pack was very comfortable and never gave my back or shoulders any problems. I started with 33 lbs including a full 3 liter hydration bladder. There was just enough room for every thing. The sleeping bag compartment is a little small so I use a compression strap for my bag. I love the detachable lid for a day hike pack and used it a couple times during the trip. The only con is the mesh hip pockets are not big enough for an IPhone or a small camera. The pack is heavy and not for an ultra liter, but I think you have to give up something for comfort.

Comments about Gregory Deva 60 Pack - Women's:
I was looking for a backpack that above all else was comfortable and fit well. This pack is heavier then all the others I tried but when loaded down with some weight it was hands down the most comfortable and BEST fit. I can't wait to take it out on the trails. I had 4 employees helping me and definetly got me into the right pack, plus gave me some great tips on the bag. Please do not let the weight of the bag discourage you, I will take a pound or two of extra weight over blistering discomfort ANY day. I purchased the xs...as I am 5'4" and 100 pounds...I often lose roughly 5 pounds in the summer, so the well padded hip belt and shoulders are a welcome feature.

Comments about Gregory Deva 60 Pack - Women's:
I absolutely love this pack. It's a bit on the heavy side, but the comfort and adjustability makes up for it and I wouldn't trade it for another pack. I've used this pac in both the Sierras and in Norway, across very rugged terrain both in high and low elevation, through both snow and summer weather and with heavy and light loads. The pack is phenomenal. The packs has so many adjustment options that it's great for any load and amount of clothes that you might wear. As long as I've adjusted and loaded it correctly I haven't gotten any hot spots. If you are - ask someone for advice. This size of 60L is also very versatile, can be used for weekend trips as well as extended trips if you pack well.
